My guess

My guess is that it’s partly because of road trip fatigue, and partly because this team isn’t that good on the road overall, and maybe he feels more pressure to perform. Maybe he feels more comfortable being near his family.

Monta said that he went through some personal things on this last long road trip, which he resolved, and implied that the personal things messed up his recent road performance.

Hmm...great game.

I was there and when Smart took out Curry the entire 2nd quarter i went nuts. Sat next to Lou Amundson’s girlfriend, and she’s a nice lady. Pretty gal. Arena was rocking.

Games like this are why people at the arena keep saying this teams close to the playoffs. Lacob and Rowell make a lot of money from games like this. Take that how you want to.

Monta played more like a prototypical point guard in this game, looking to pass, not shooting all the time. Very good offensive game. Was torched by Terry and Barea a few times but i think Lou or Udoh cleaned up those mistakes and if they didn’t, oh well.

Lee…… did he do anything tonight? Same with Dorell…

Overall good game but our tank chances took a serious blow. I really didn’t want this team to get to 36 wins because the team can keep saying we improved by 10 wins, which we know doesn’t mean crap because this teams healthy and last years team was devastated by injuries, and we need a good draft pick. Hoping for full on tank mode besides Laker game. Cheers.

Curry had foul troubles

Perfectly fine for him to come out, not like he was lighting up the place . Lee played nice defense on Dirk all night but DW was a non factor

No need to tank...

Really. I see no need to tank. It’s cowardly. Economically, and strategically I don’t see any reason either. The only reason I believe a top draft pick would be important, is for trading purposes. We should focus more upon clearing space for a top pick in the offseason. Really the best possible move I can think of.

Way, Way, Way too much talk about tanking. It’s Bullshit.

It's all about the cost Man...

High first rounders cost – alot of money. I think we’d be better off focusing on trading, buying, and trading some more. There’s a lot of folks we could be using as valuable trade pieces. (I would prefer not to trade ME-SC-DL-or DW, just to be clear)

It's not a weak class.

It looks like a really good class besides a lack of a top overall pick type player. 3-10 has some great value.

Because that pick is a sure fire star?

That player would need to develop , we still wouldn’t look attractive. Stars don’t look at a team like “wow they have some nice young pieces”

They see it more as " They have some really good vets and can compete now and haven’t sucked"

Name teams that attracted star FA’s because they had young talent but sucked the year before. It doesn’t work like that.

I actually dont agree with this statment competely.

A team is looking for a group that can win now and has youth so the team doesnt start losing in a few years.
Im sorry but the warriors would seem like a hell’va of a team for a free agent to join. -assuming that is what they are looking for. If Dwight Howard had any ties to the Bay or maybe bridges i would see it as a great possibility for him to join this team. Im not sorry.

To lose is to win. That’s the bottom line. If you like to lose, just win more, because we’ll probably get a worse player. Smart basketball is really about playing the odds, much of the time. Take that jump shot? Nope. I don’t shoot well from there and have a good defender on me. I might make it, but it’s not likely.

Similarly, we want to play the odds in the post season while simultaneously keeping up team moral. To play the odds to good effect, at this point, we do, in fact, want to lose.

also the mavs sans kidd and brewer have the smallest backcourt ever. barea 5’10, terry 6’1, beaubois 6’0(but with a 6’10 wingspan). i assume roddy b will be the pg of the future after kidd leaves

Monta's PnR game has gotten to the point of it being really really good

It’s so dangerous cause Monta can finish almost any type of drive so they have to commit to him but his quick one handers are deadly as well.

Not to Steph, when throwing 1 handers don’t cock it back. Make it fast

some will credit the ball handler or the flashier athlete

but from what we’ve seen of Lee’s court awareness on both ends, he should get at least equal credit for creating openings and converting more of Ellis’ passes into assists. Lee often yells out alerts on defense — did the former ‘stopper’ Biedrins ever do much of that ?

Thanks IQ for that segment of David Lee's comments in the locker room. Listened to it 3 times!

Lee said some really mature things and gave an assessment about where this team is, the “pieces” it has, and needs. I thought he did a tremendous job against Dirk, and Dallas. I have felt all along that Lee’s game is A-OK. With some experienced help inside, he is going to be one heck of a force to be reckoned with; bank on a double-double every game.

by dinohealth on Apr 3, 2011 5:53 AM PDT reply actions

I find it so weird when players and coaches refer to players as "pieces."

I can see fans and sports writers doing it, even owners to an extent…but these are people they deal with every day. Weirds me out.

Lol. I think you are right. I do the same thing. Looking at a team's players as building blocks.

While desperately trying to find the right ones, fit them together, and go for it successfully. I think he understands the human element behind it.

This movie will be epic

I freakin LOVE Charlie Day!

I'm drenched in P.I.N.K...you?

What movie is that?

I love Charlie, but I didn’t want to watch Justin Long and Drew Barrymore for two hours to see him in a movie.

by ohcleverhansyou on Apr 3, 2011 9:44 AM PDT up reply actions

No its not the Drew Barrymore one

Its a movie called Horrible Bosses. 3 friends conspire to kill eachother’s bosses.

The 3 disgruntled employees are Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis and the bosses are Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston. I read the script and it was probably the best comedy I’ve read…this will be this year’s Hangover. It comes out July 8th..during the summer.

Jamie Foxx is also in it as a fake wanna be gangsta whose name is Mutherfxcker Jones….oh, and the old spice guy is in it too. It will be epic!

Old Spice Guy alone makes it sound interesting.

The playoffs are coming! I'm so excited to see who we're going to draft in the... uh.. playoffs.

Not to nitpick, but couldn't the recap be added faster?

Don’t give up, guys!

If you're watching a blowout, you can pass the time by counting the double teapots.

Yeah...

IQ has the post game links down to a science. It’s super impressive how quickly (and consistently) he puts these posts together.

These aren’t the same as recaps though. This is a collection of links and videos from all over the place. The recaps are original pieces from the writers on staff here, who (as I said below) all happen to have gotten real busy with other things at the same time.

Hang with us and we’ll get things rolling again.

Only if someone has time to write them faster. They don’t write themselves.

You could just use an old one

And see if anyone noticed :).

I’m willing to bet, a quick stat update and majority of people won’t notice. Would be funny to observe

Ha

You may be on to something…

Sorry man...

Seems like the whole staff got really busy at the same time (with real world stuff). Hopefully someone will be able to put something together for the game, but it’s tough at the moment.

When things are running well we usually have them up the same night, or early the next morning. Hopefully things will calm down and we’ll be able to get back on schedule.

monta got a bunch

of hard and circus shot on the game. But NBA did not bother include Monta on top 10 play of the Day. The only warriors game that got highlighted is the pass of Monta to Dorell dunk. I hate when Derrick Rose got all the best highlight when Monta is more exciting to watch.
