What do you think of these 2 prospects?
I was just wondering what you guys think of Terrence Jones and Kawhi Leonard. They both may fall to us in the 10-12 range and both could provide some good deph for us and both have solid potential.
Terrence Jones is the hybrid forward from Kentucky who reminds people of Odom , you might think that we already failed with one of these type of guys but he has an NBA ready body at 6'8 , 244 lbs. He can create off the dribble for himself and can post up pretty well. He also has solid range on his jumper but it is inconsistent. And while he can be overpowering and a creative shot creator he only shoots at 44% .
He has an up and down motor on both sides of the ball and doesn't rebound as well as he could with his athletic ability and strength with 8.8 RPG (31.5 MPG). He also tends to get too fancy and soft around the rim instead of using his raw athletic ability to get to the rim. He's not very fluid either, seems awkward at times and unsure of himself. This is mainly when he's in the 10-15 foot range where going to the rim or pulling up for a jumper are both good options but he ops for push shots and floaters. Although he can handle the ball he's likely not going to be a good point forward with a .80 assist to turnover ratio. All in all he has lots of potential but really needs to refine his game. Is he a tweener or a mismatch?
My comparison : At very best he is a Odom/Josh Smith type of guy and at worst I see him as Hakim Warrick/Marvin Williams
Now to the other player who is a more traditional SF. Leonard has a really high motor and never takes a play off. He can lock a man down defensively and can inhale rebounds . He is also a very explosive athlete and when on the break can be a very dangerous finisher. A decent ball handler and although no one will mistake him for a point forward he can create a bit. A very good finisher around the rim as well. He has a decent mid range jumper and can post up smaller players. Although not as young as Jones he still has some good upside. He averaged 15 and 10 while shooting 45%

His jumper is inconsistent, he can string some together but he can also miss badly consecutively. He can disappear on offense but will impact the game in other ways . He lacks a true offensive game or move he can go to to score consistently . Although a good defender he can get reckless and start gambling a lot. He doesn't have the greatest shot selection either and will take lots of off balance shots .
My comparison: At best a Gerald Wallace or a smaller Shawn Marion. At worst Julian Wright
If you don't like either who do you think we should realistically grab at 10-12?

Jones easily.
Bigger upside.
Plus, Leonard has never impressed me individually. I was far more impressed by SDSU’s front line overall. White and Thomas were beasts as well.

Powerful video on Kawhi Leonard
Moving commentary by former hoopsters. Good for them. Like Wally, I’m rooting for him, and would love to see him bring some needed toughness and athleticism to the Dubs.
Jones
I would take Jones easily..Not only is he better, he is a better fit for what the Warriors are looking for…However, If it came down to it I wouldnt take any of the two…
...And there goes the 1 man fast break

I’d take Jones on value, but I’m not very sure about how effective he’ll be in the NBA. He reminds me of a cross between Earl Clark and Donte Greene. Yes two tweeners who play without a position. I just think Jones will be a big project like these two guys.
Give me Jeff Taylor, Alec Burks, Epic Bi*chsmack, or Marcus Morris.

"He's chicken curry right now. He'll become beef curry a little later on."

Leonard has a better chance to be useful, probably.
But I’d be fine with not getting either one.

I don't have a strong opinion on either of 'em ...
… but I’m generally a little wary of combo forwards. Those guys always run a risk of being too slow to be a three but not big enough to be a 4.
And I actually think that three is one of the positions we least need to upgrade. (5, 2, and 4 are actually bigger areas of concern for me right now).
Jones
Def Terence Jones
Best Case: Michael Beasley
They have the same shot selection as of right now, athletic ability, and size.
Worst Case: Marvin Williams
Probable: Shawne Williams
Hard to know what Jones can be, but from his role on Callipari’s offense, he could definitely do exactly what Shawne Williams does for NY right now. Spot up jumper, rebound, hustle, defend the 3 and smaller 4’s. He would need to expand his range to the NBA 3 to finish the package, but if he brings his inconsistencies with him to the next level, he is looking at a career no different from Marvin’s.
Kawhi has numerous problems with his offensive game that will be exposed in the big league. Some of these problems include shooting, ball handling, shot selection, turnover potential, and more.
Best Case: Gerald Wallace
Worst Case: Keith Bogans
Probable: Matt Barnes
The hardest thing about being a tweener between 3 positions is having the knowledge to play all of those positions like a Ron Artest, Shane Battier, or Gerald Wallace. Kawhi has already proven he can defend and rebound very well, but being ready and willing to spend extra horus in the gym to develop an offense suitable for a role on a team is a huge step for younger players. He’s also got the athleticism, length, and size to defend three positions like the aforementioned players, but being 6’7 and doing what those guys do also requires a lot of bball IQ. Matt Barnes is the perfect fit for what Kawhi currently is, but Kawhi would have to develop a 3pt shot, and saying he has to develop a 3pt shot to match barnes’ percentage is saying a lot
