NBA's Latest CBA Proposal Features a VERY Interesting Wrinkle

70

The league's latest proposal has been rejected but there is a very interesting item that the league is trying to implement as a part of the new CBA...The league has proposed a provision that would allow the following: "teams would be allowed to shed one contract outright before next season through a one-time amnesty provision that wipes that contract off a team's books -- even though the player must still be paid." This is a pretty big deal because it will allow many more teams (including the Warriors) to get involved in Free Agency this Summer. I'm assuming that if this provision is approved by the Player's Union and negotiated into the new CBA then Andris Biedrins' contract might be the one that gets wiped off the books, although using the rule to wipe out Lee's contract may in fact be wiser. Would love to hear some thoughts on this possible new rule and how the Warriors should use it.
