I have been reading that Monta has had issues with Lee and that is the reason that we may be trading Ellis. That is a mistake. David Lee is simply not the talent that Monta Ellis is. I can live with Monta is traded if we can get very an equally dynamic player in return. If we trade him for scrap to make things more comfortable for Lee and easier for Mark Jackson, we are making a huge mistake.
David Lee is a hard working player but all of his skills are replaceable. He has no low post game and is an above average rebounder. He has a mid-range jumper. He is a poor defender. He is greatly overpaid and was a huge reach when we signed him.
Monta is a dynamic scorer, can create his own shot, and can get to the line. He has a reasonable contract. He is unconventional but he is at least a 6th man on a title contending team. He has a huge heart and I think can be coached to be a great team player and better defender.
Monta's skill level is unique and will be hard to replace. David Lee is a dime a dozen.
People are going to say that David Lee is not tradeable. This is not true. We could maybe trade with (with other players) for Boozer, Gay, etc. and then draft a replacement for Lee.
Tell me what you think.
