Trade Idea with Atlanta
It seems as though the idea of breaking up our dynamic backcourt is picking up momentum. If we are going to trade our best player ((Monta Ellis)), two players that I would like to see added to the Warriors roster would be Kirk Heinrich and Josh Smith. Heinrich would be an experienced backup Curry and Josh Smith would add great athleticism to the front court to pair with D.Lee and Udoh. Ellis + Biedrins would make sense as far as pieces go.
HAWKS
Adding Ellis to ATL would give J.Crawford and J.Johnson a potent offensive weapon and a good distributor in the back court. Biedrins would give ATL nice depth and defense at C with him and Pachulia, which would let Al Horford move to PF. Jeff Teague earned himself some playing time this coming season with his performance in the playoffs. ATL could come together as a top 4 team in the east with the addition of another SF/PF
Ellis/Teague
Johnson/Crawford
Williams
Horford/Armstrong/Powell
Beidrins/Pachulia
WARRIORS
If Ellis is the one to go, that means Curry will be running the show. Heinrich as the backup PG/SG would strengthen the back court. I think his ballhandling skills would let Curry work his way to get open for some buttery jumpers. Josh Smith can play 3 positions in the front court and if you pair his defensive prowess with the defensive developments we have seen in Udoh then the Warriors can be much stronger in the paint. David Lee has shown a lot of skills across the board(both passing, outside shooting and getting to the rim), and by putting two young athletic big men on either side of him I can imagine a pretty solid team pending some FA additions and the draft.
Curry/Heinrich
Wright/Williams/(heinrich)
Smith/Thorton/(wright)
Lee/Amundson
Udoh/FA
Although the above roster doesn't mention it, there is the Option of Udoh coming off the bench as a backup PF/C for either Lee or Smith.
What do you guys think of this trade idea??? The salaries match up nearly perfect!!

More like it came to an end. On top of that, J Crawford is a FA and wont be back with the hawks, Wright is not a SG, doesn’t have the ball handling and neither does Josh Smith.

Ballhandling
is the only skill that Josh Smith has that resembles a 3. Really a good passer.
You are not a warrior; you're a beginner!

I like the trade
I don’t know how it works out financially, though. Have you taken precautions?
I’ve wanted Hinrich on the team for quite some time now. I think he’s a serviceable guard off the bench, with a little bit of versatility(size), suited for Stephen’s game.
I also like his grit on the defensive end, along with the prospect of leading the perimeter defense of our 2nd team under coach Mark Jackson. A solid veteran.
I like Josh Smith’s defensive range. He needs a tough coach who can limit him to his strengths on offense, and discourage those silly jump shots. I understand that Smith is somewhat of a failure at the 3, but I’d like to see how he would do at that position while Udoh is on the court.
We need somebody to pick up the slack on the boards for Ekpe, and I don’t believe that David Lee will be enough. If the team can pair Curry with a big guard (through the draft, Reggie) who can create their own shot, while coaching Smith to decrease his volume, I think that lineup can be very successful in a lot of situations.
i'm pretty sure hinrich makes quite a bit
and doesn’t smith make more than monta already?
I'd jump for joy at this trade
but ATL would never do it. Hinrich and Smith are EXACTLY the pieces we need. Hinrich has unique size as a guard and Josh Smith would be the perfect complement to David Lee.
Biedrins would be the hold-up. Ellis for Smith would be more likely but still improbably given that Smith is already an all-star and a big.
Ellis and a 2nd for Smith
I wrote two fanposts this season
about trades that would land us Kirk for cap relief. Most people spat on it, said he sucks.
I agree, he’s exactly the kind of role player the Warriors need. From what I hear, people are down on Josh Smith right now in Atlanta, and vice versa.
Most people spat on it, said he sucks.
probably the same people who think monta is an all nba player. i’d love to have hinrich as a backup pg
I think
Marvin Williams greatly flaws the chances of something like this falling through. Biedrins and Williams are too great a sum for such little projected productivity.
The trade would look a little better if we could 3 way Iggy to ATL, and ship Monta to Philly. Swap our high 2nd rounder for Philly’s 16th pick, and why not?
What kind of quality big can they get at #16 in this year’s draft, anyway?

I’ve liked the Hinrich idea. Honestly, I like most of your posts. We all get our ideas “spat” on sometimes. Don’t sweat it and keep preaching the truth!

I’ve suggested this same trade. I’d happily switch Biedrins and Lee if need be.

Nope
Why would Atl want both Monta and Joe Johnson playing together in the same back court. They really don’t complement each other.
