Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Let's get it started!

Make some initial moves that are realistic. Do not spend time chasing players we will not be able to get. Strike first! These moves can all be made within our salary cap/MLE. Is Dalembert or especially Fesenko, without flaws? No! But there is depth and size now to work with.

1) Sign Samuel Dalembert at center

2) Sign Kyrylo Fesenko at center

3) Re-sign Al Thornton at small forward

4) Re-sign Reggie Williams at shooting guard

5) 1st round draft pick: Klay Thompson at shooting guard

6) 2nd round draft pick: BPA

Once these moves have been made the roster will now be filled out. Then begin the process of seeing what you can possibly get for Ellis, Biedrins or others to up-grade the roster.

Center: Dalembert, Biedrins, Fesenko

Power Forward: Lee, Udoh, Amundson

Small Forward: Wright, Thornton (Reggie Williams)

Shooting Guard: Ellis, Thompson, Williams

Point Guard: Curry, Lin (Reggie Williams), Bell?

If were doing dat after the draft y not draft Bismack Biyombo and resign Reggie and Al and go for Aaron Aflalo for a defensive 2 to fill in for Monta defensive end

I want us to draft Biyombo. He=difference maker.

Wish it was that easy.

I think about these scenarios in my free time way too often and would show you some now but without considering salary, the lure of other teams, and the looming lockout…it only leaves draft predictions to be worth discussing.

In any case. I hope the Warriors have the opportunity to draft big in the first round for Biyombo and draft a SG in the second round.

So we just went from 36 wins to 38.

Exactly what i was thinking.

These are all short term moves that won’t amount to jack as far as us making the playoffs or totally bottoming out into sucksville.

Congrats on improving us by 1-2 wins, if at all.

Do not spend time chasing players we will not be able to get.

I think the front office moves made thus far are an indication that Lacob is trying to change this mentality.

by Slightly Hyphy on Jun 4, 2011 2:33 PM PDT reply actions

I'm sorry but that just sounds like a loser mentality. A mentality Cohan and Rowell were totally fine with.

i dont undersatand

Why everyone is in love with lin. He was horrible to watch last year and seemed hesitant eveeerrryy time he was on the court. He shouldnt be in the line up for pg

by webeleive510 on Jun 4, 2011 3:58 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

He was pretty good defensively. His hustle and energy were also a nice sight.

by Slightly Hyphy on Jun 4, 2011 4:24 PM PDT up reply actions

?

He usually was on the court for short stints unless it was garbage time. A better assesment was his play in the D-League, saw one game where he was arguably the best player on the court.

Think Lin is a microcosm of a much bigger problem with fans now a days, we want instant results. If a player doesn’t show himself to be an instant contributor, he must not be good. If a coach can’t get us to the playoffs in his first season, fire him and bring in someone else.

Lin was signed to be a project that would occupy the last couple of spots on the roster, ones that do not get used unless we have major injuries. I think it will be a good investment that will payoff with a capable back up point.

by ajtrinc on Jun 4, 2011 5:02 PM PDT up reply actions

u watched a different game

he was very solid defensively, and showed glimpses of being able to control the offense. for 15 minutes a game, that’s all we should be asking

by AJC3317 on Jun 4, 2011 10:18 PM PDT up reply actions

if he works on his shot

he’ll be a very serviceable backup PG

by bigkino217 on Jun 4, 2011 10:20 PM PDT up reply actions

no

What i remember was him turning the ball over, missing point blank layups and making one shot. Im not trying to bash him, but i really think we need a good veteran point gaurd other than someone who will ‘eventually’ be servicable. Someone that isnt named acie law either. I think lin would be a viable 3rd option, at least until he gets more experience.

by webeleive510 on Jun 4, 2011 10:48 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

What i remember was him turning the ball over

he had almost a 2:1 steal to turnover ratio (hardly any guards even have a ratio of 1:1). if you remember him turning the ball over, you have very selective memory.

by bigkino217 on Jun 4, 2011 10:59 PM PDT up reply actions

well...

Im not sold on him. forget stats for a minnute, from watching him play he doesnt seem to be the play making ability type of guy that we need.

by webeleive510 on Jun 4, 2011 11:32 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

he plays defense, takes care of the ball, and is still young. why so quick to judge? seems like he has the tools to be a solid backup if he works on his shot

by bigkino217 on Jun 4, 2011 11:41 PM PDT up reply actions

he plays defense

But i dont think hell have the athletisism to defend alot of the other guards in the league. And if were going to keep curry as our pg we need a backup that can do that and produce a bit more

Re-Sign Reggie Williams.
Draft Chris Singleton.
Trade Monta for Omer Asik, pick #28 or 30, and some contract filler.
Sign Chris Douglas Roberts to a decent contract (good defense, acceptable offense).
Sign Alexis Ajinca to a small deal.

Try to unload Biedrins/Lee.

Seems like a pretty realistic off season if our FO committed to it.

is CDR really any good at D?

he never struck me as a good defensive player, just a mediocre scorer

by bigkino217 on Jun 5, 2011 2:49 AM PDT up reply actions

I think it's a big red flag if a team as terrible as the Nets cut you.

Doesn’t make me want to rush to pick that guy up.

But...

Afllalo is worse than Ellis on defense…

We cna get a LOT better for Monta

Then to almost useless late round draft picks and a 3rd string center

That and us dumping Lee makes your plan unrealistic. You know as well as anyone that we won’t dump Lee and Monta . And resigning Reggie to me seems unlikely since we are bringing in so many wings to workout and there is a good amount of FA’s this year who can take his spot

Unloading Biedrins/Lee

I’d love to see it happen but I just don’t see anybody wanting them unless you take back some dead weight the other team wants to unload also.

Reggie Williams sucks

Can we have Morrow back or something like tht

by SDtotheBay on Jun 5, 2011 3:43 PM PDT reply actions

!

Reggie doesn’t suck dude, he’s a beast. Morrow is a great guy, but even his specialty (shooting) is not that much better than Reggie’s, if it’s better at all. They both had the same 3pt % this season and Reggie had a higher TS%. I would argue Reggie is better at almost everything else (rebounds, defense, passing, etc.) and will probably be cheaper.

by jonathannn on Jun 5, 2011 3:54 PM PDT up reply actions

+1

I’d be disappointed if we don’t resign Reggie. And give him more minutes.

by Uwe Blog on Jun 5, 2011 4:24 PM PDT via mobile up reply actions

Reggie didn't show up this year

He looked like a D-leaguer. Smart gave him plenty of chances despite what smart bashers say. He was very efficient, but he wasn’t aggressive enough. If you combine D-Wright’s aggression with Reggie’s efficiency, now you have some points that will help when and if we move Monta for a perimeter defender. With that said, I hope we resign Reggie, but he has to show up.

by Xtremelink on Jun 5, 2011 7:32 PM PDT up reply actions

he was just as aggressive this year as last year

smart just had such a short leash it was ridiculous. if reggie didn’t do something immediately, he was yanked for the rest of the game. nobody can play like that

by bigkino217 on Jun 5, 2011 7:51 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, his per 36 this season was almost identical as last season.

by DubsFan408 on Jun 5, 2011 7:56 PM PDT up reply actions

Sorry but I disagree...completely

these our short term moves that will get us 2 more wins max

...And there goes the 1 man fast break
