The Warriors drafted a young shooting guard who was the son of a former NBA player. I live in Los Angeles and Mychal Thompson is beloved in LA. He's the best color announcer for basketball I've ever heard. He's really upbeat, calls out players for being lazy and says what needs to be said as a former player. Is it possible that Thompson is another piece in a potential Bynum trade? Did West draft a player the Lakers would covet as a trading chip? I haven't heard this angle discussed yet.
It seems to me that the Warriors have quietly continued to gather pieces for a Bynum trade. Bynum is a stud Center, the best out there right now other than Howard, and Bynum is almost as good as Howard. Bynum is only good for 60 games a season, but for those 60 he's a powerhouse. I love Tyler's potential, but Bynum has done it for years and he's a known quantity. Right now, Bynum and Kobe are feuding. The "Trust" comments during the playoffs were Bynum talking about Kobe. Kobe made a point after the season of saying younger players needed to "get in line" about Bynum. I think Kobe wins that feud and Bynum is dealt. The Warriors now can trade a beloved son of a former Laker Champion, Kobe's future replacement in 4 years, maybe add one of the W"s bigs, and either Curry or Ellis.
I think that's pretty close to getting the deal done.
I think that's West's plan. And it's bold!
