Mullin will have his number 17 retired whenever the season starts but what do you guys think about having Hardaway's #10 and Richmonds #23 retired with Mullin's?

Run TMC=Overrated.

We had a losing record with them, and won 55 games the year after they were disbanded!

Uwe Blab. Jim Peterson. Les Jepsen. Alton Lister. Paul Mokeski. Manute Bol. Tom Tolbert. Tyrone Hill. Ralph Sampson.

These were the bigs that patrolled the paint for Run TMC. They make Biedrins look like Ewing. And keep in mind, most teams then were tough, physical teams with lots of bigs. Hall of fame bruisers all over the place.

Run TMC went further in the playoffs than the 55 win team. The Ritchmond trade was a move for size and defense, and clearly a mistake, though Owens and Webber became close friends. Ironically, Billy Owens being traded for Seikaly was the straw that broke the camel’s back for Webber (who then demanded to be traded). He had clashed with Nelson, and was a very sensitive guy, by all accounts.

The cards were stacked against Run TMC every night, and they were the funnest team in the league to watch, hands down.

Their run was too short, but not overrated. They had less business beating David Robinson’s Spurs than We Believe did beating Dallas. We Believe had Dallas’ number, probably due to Nellie’s history there.

But their biggest contribution was just how fun they made the Warriors. The Showtime Lakers had slowed down a hair, getting bigger every year to battle the Celtics and Pistons for championships, so they weren’t as exciting by ‘88-’89 to watch.

The Webber-era Kings and Nash’s Suns have had similar excitement in their games, but they had star big men too. Run TMC had crap in the paint. Absolute garbage.

I say hang ’em up! The funnest era to be a Warriors fan deserves it.

Oh man, they really were fun. It is too bad you never saw them. It seemed that they never did it alone, either. Always as a unit. And they always had a shot to win. 20 point comebacks were par for these guys. No lead was safe, for either team! Run TMC could put points up at a dizzying pace, and our horrendous bigs could give them up just as fast.

I used to use their numbers on lottery tickets and for combination locks. They had their own cheeseburger at McDonalds! I really wish you had seen them. It was a great time to be a fan.

Missing the point

Other than the Championship team in the 70’s, RUN TMC represents the most enjoyable era for warriors fans. They were electric, fun and overachieving. Retiring their jerseys (or at least raising something to the rafters to commemorate the trio) would be about respecting the memories of them as it relates to WARRIORS FANS.

It’s not about HOF. It’s not about All-Star appearances – though all 3 were perennial all-stars (mitch as a king, but deserving as a warrior). It’s about their place in Warrior history, which is VERY high.

I really wonder how much of that 11-win improvement had to do with Hardaway’s growth and Sarunas Marciulionis being an absolute monster off the bench that season? Because the straight-up talent swap of Richmond for Billy Owens certainly wasn’t what actually “improved” the team.

Another thing that comes to mind, the year after the 55-win season they dropped back to 38 wins and out of the playoffs, which ultimately led to us securing Webber in the subsequent draft.

I would say Sarunas Marciulionis finally approaching his potential, in 91-92, was the biggest factor in getting to 55 wins. Hardaway improved but was still lacking a competent big to dish to. Marciulionis had a huge impact coming off the bench. Marciulionis never developed the chemistry with Tim and Chris that Mitch had, but Marciulionis had a very unique style that was fun to watch. He could split defenders better than anyone I have seen and he had a behind the back move going to the rim that he would actually finish, unlike Monta’s spin move. Coach Nelson played Marciulionis like Admiral Nelson might have used a fireship to disrupt enemy defenses. I recall opponents getting so baffled by Marciulionis that they resorted to flagrantly fouling him on a nightly basis. I can not think of a bigger flagrant foul magnet than him. The Marciulionis phenomena only lasted one year but was enough to make him my all time favorite player. The factors leading to the 17 win drop are too painful to discuss and make Moped-gate seam like a joke, just like a moped is to a real motorcycle.

With all due respect, I am a Analyst Hall of Fame candidate. If you are offended by my comment, I did write "With all due respect".

I don’t know if it’s smart to comment on something you know very little about.

Just seeing as we improved after dismantling Run Tmc.

I found they might be overrated, but you’re right, i didn’t experience it for myself, so i can’t really say that.
