Mark Jackson
On Dwight Howard:
"I think he was in a pretty good rhythm offensively all night long. The guy missed 18 free throws. I can understand people thinking 'Why?' but don't get caught up in the free throws, think about when we didn't foul him; dunks, hooks, at the rim - he's a great player and a bad free throw shooter. To give ourselves the best chance possible, we tried to mess up their rhythm and take their three point shooters away, which we did, but they made plays. I tell you what, my guys are working. Frustrating to lose, but we battled and we look forward to what lies ahead. A tough loss."
On if he would have fouled Dwight Howard if Kwame Brown were available:
"No. And I wouldn't have done it if Dre (Andris Biedrins) was on the court because I thought he did an outstanding job of playing Dwight Howard one-on-one. We have two bodies that can defend him one-one-one and force him away from the painted area, and that's Dre (Andris Biedrins) and Kwame Brown. Being shorthanded after that we go to the small guys and he basically got where he wanted. Immediately, you have to figure out a way to stop a great player and his weakness is foul shooting."
On Klay Thompson:
"He's a knock down shooter. He's doing a great job coming off being aggressive and he's very effective when he slows the game down. He's playing extremely well right now for us. It's good to see him in rhythm because we're going to need him."
David Lee
On the game plan for Dwight Howard:
"That's what coach drew up for us. He was shooting 42% from the line, he hit 21 of 39 free throws, thats a chance you take. He chose to play him head up on the block. He fouled out Andris (Biedrins), Ekpe (Udoh) and myself at the end there. He played well. I thought our team really fought and did a really good job shorthanded."
On upcoming road trip:
"The fact of the matter is we have four teams who are below .500, we need to take care of business. There's nothing to be said if we come back with a losing record on this road trip, it should be a huge disappointment. This is a road trip were we need to take care of business and get at least three or four games to come back here right at .500. I don't see it any other way at this point. We're playing good basketball."
Monta Ellis
On if there is an urgency to win now:
"We're close. We did everything we could've tonight. They made big shots down the end. I was satisfied with the performance. It just let us know where we stand if we play like this every night. We just have to go on this road trip and handle business."
Notes
- Dorell Wright DNP because of a knee contusion.
What's next?
- Road trip! We first swing by Charlotte to pick up Stephen Curry. The last reports I heard is that he won't play though.
