Could this be a nice way to dump Biedrins? in a bad contract for bad contract trade, the Warriors could take on a potential headache with big upside down low.

Which is worse, Biedrins' 3yrs/27mill or Blatche's 4yrs/30mill?

Bidrins, in limited minutes, has been substantially better than Blatche this year.

Look beyond PPG.

Biedrins is a much better rebounder, shot blocker, and post defender. Biedrins shoots much less, true – but Blatche is so bad at shooting that every shot he takes hurts you. The fact that he scores more than Biedrins is not actually an argument that he’s better than Biedrins – Blatche would help his team more by shooting as little as Biedrins does.

I don't think it's as definitive as you make it out to be

Points aside, Blatche has led Biedrins in almost every statistical category the past couple years. He’s inconsistent, but has some big games in him. Biedrins is ok defensively but he’s a borderline throwaway big at this point.

Why not mix it up? this team is terrible, especially up front.

Well, over the last couple of years, I agree with you.

Biedrins has not been a good player for two years.

That’s why I said “this year.” Biedrins appears to be, defensively and rebound-wise, the guy he was pre-injury.

And that makes it not close. He is very very good at those parts of the game.

Blatche is good at NO parts of the game.

This isn’t “mixing it up.” It’s taking a clearly worse player on a longer deal. Pass.

Nope

he’s not good

we have enough players that aren’t very good, I think we need to honestly start looking at acquiring guys who are good at basketball

NOOOOOOO

there’s a reason why they’re shopping him lol. He’s soft and settles for jump shots way too much.

That pick was Steph Curry.

Look who Amare has been this season and last.

You’d rather have Steph.

Of course, had we made the trade we would have ended up with neither.

The amount of cap space we would save by losing Curry and Biedrins ...

… would be just about what it takes to get Deandre Jordan.

Not enough to get Tyson Chandler – a player who’s, you know, unambiguously really good.

You still want to trade those guys for cap space?

Cap space is not a particularly valuable commodity. You’d rather have good players.

by Ronaldinho on Jan 13, 2012 4:51 PM PST up reply actions

why not enough to get Chandler?

That’s additional $10mil with what we had this summer.

I was trying to contextualize the space saved.

Not talk about the total amount of space we had. And we’re talking about a year or two from now anyway, not last offseason.

You say “hey, if it doesn’t work out, we have cap space.” That move nets us $12-13m in cap space. $12-$13m in cap space does not get you two players as good as Curry and Biedrins.

That’s my point. You talk about the cap space we end up with if Dwight walks as if it’s some hugely valuable commodity. But it’s not. It’s fools gold.

That's "IF" they don't sign extension

What happen if Amare or Howard sign the extension?

by ILoveWarriorsGirls on Jan 14, 2012 12:20 PM PST up reply actions

You're talking in circles.

You brought up cap space as a worst-case scenario. I was responding to how that’s not much of a consolation prize – it makes us worse in the short term and quite possibly the long term.

So now you’re saying “what if they sign.”

And I’m saying that if a player tells you he won’t sign, that’s a pretty stupid “what if” to hang your hopes on.

Amare made it clear he wouldn’t sign here. In retrospect, that’s even more obvious.

not shopping

they could have traded him to the Rockets . Biedrins has played well in the minutes he has been given.

Blatche's "big upside down low"

He has all-star potential when it comes to wiping down the court during dead balls.

God no. Blatche thinks he's Amare. Do not want.

"I thought it was going in," Warriors center Chris Hunter said. "It looked like the invisible man tipped it away at the last second."

"He's chicken curry right now. He'll become beef curry a little later on."

Oh boy, Andray Blatche...

I can’t decide if he’s the worst good player or the best horrible player.

His PER is 11.93, good for 207th in the league. Beans is 60th with 18.79. Stats aside, have you seen him play? He’s supposed to be a caption for the Wizards, and it’s pretty ugly over there at DC. If there’s player that I definitely would NOT want on the Warriors for any reason, it’s Blatche.

blatche is injured currently and why trade for an extra year of a "bad" contract

only two more years on beans and beans has the option of canceling his last year

Not really.

Lewis is a very good player at least. Arenas shouldn’t be in the league.

he hasn't done anything since he was traded to washington
