And the 6 fouls go to Earl Barron
Not impressed, just another 6 fouls to hack a center strategy.

But you get
What you pay for this late in the season. Wasn’t really expecting a home run. I guess Fesenko is still to hurt to be considered.

he’s a 7 footer who shoots 37% for his CAREER and doesn’t rebound or defend well. don’t judge him off of a two minute clip of him making open baskets against the clippers

Cool
At least we are not looking into D-League, that’s an upgrade from Cohan era.

I liked Chris Hunter coming off the bench
What happened to him?

He got hurt
and got cut from a D-League team
not sure if he’s healthy yet
http://nbawarriors.wordpress.com/
lol
check out his shooting stats: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/barroea01.html
I didn’t think I’d ever say this, but we might be better off with Jeremy Tyler. But, hey, if Earl plays, it appears he might be capable of single-handedly making sure we tank.
The one thing I appreciate Earl Barron for
is proving to me that David Lee is not a good rebounder, or least not the rebounder his stats once indicated. I already suspected, but when he came in started the final 6 games of the 2010 season for the Knicks, he actually outrebounded Lee by a significant amount. I watched some of those games, and he just showed how overrated Lee was. Too bad nobody in the Warriors management noticed what happened in those games.

is proving to me that David Lee is not a good rebounder,
wow, just wow. What’s up people with DLee? He is a very good player. We overpay him, yes, so what? We need to overpay good players. Just like people over paying to get BMW and Benz. You don’t want to drive Yugo because it is good value and he runs, don’t you??

Honestly I have no idea. I’ve always thought David Lee was a good signing. Everyone is looking at last year and looking at it thru a microscope but people forget that he was hurt throughout the season because of the freak accident.

And when he got healthy last year he had a string of games where he played well above his expectations, if not as good as anyone.

Its not about last year
I had much less of an issue with him last year than I do right now.

What am I missing here
We are off to a bad start. Earl Barron is not going to turn that around. Shouldn’t we just develop Udoh and Tyler. The more we suck, the more likely we are to keep our draft pick. IS there any reason for us not to give Curry all the time he needs and just accept the inevitable losses. With a good draft pick, we could be good next year. However, THIS IS NOT OUR YEAR.
Ok...so I guess the tank mission is officially on?

I doubt he even plays much after his first few games
Not a big deal, he won’t be a significant player so what is the harm? What was the alternatives? Nothing that’d be better then 6 more fouls

I'd prefer a d leaguer or someone like Benson.
Barron can’t even play at all.
by GovernorStephCurry on Jan 13, 2012 11:16 PM PST reply actions
We just need a big body for 6 fouls
He’s not a Kwame but Benson is much more undersized

He's completely useless.
I think there’s honestly better options, like a Fesenko.

The Mavs passed on him as well

As Jackson said, we’re not replacing Kwame, so we couldn’t expect whomever we signed to be up to his caliber. We just signed Barron because he fit the team’s needs the most. (and he has 6 fouls which we can use the next time we play the Clips!)

Ok.
Why is he the best option to sign?
by GovernorStephCurry on Jan 15, 2012 5:55 PM PST up reply actions
I’m not privy to that knowledge…I don’t work in the front office. Asking Riley, West, or Meyers might be better.
by Slightly Hyphy on Jan 15, 2012 6:34 PM PST up reply actions
I'm confused.
So you actually don’t know why he’s the best option available?

I see we are gunning for a playoffs spot
instead of developing our rookies
If you're watching a blowout, you can pass the time by counting the double teapots.
Samurai Champloo > Macross
i dont think they'll stop trying until theyre statistically eliminated

And that's really the saddest part
We’re gonna miss the playoffs, and end up giving up our lottery pick away. We’re aren’t gonna make the playoffs anytime soon unless we gamble on something big or get a high draft pick
by GSWarrior1818 on Jan 14, 2012 12:17 AM PST up reply actions
the thing is, we don't need to make the playoffs soon
i’m more worried about contending for a championship in the future than i am making the playoffs soon.

You can’t realistically tell any professional, whether it be a player or a front office person, to lose on purpose. It’s just not going to happen.
by Slightly Hyphy on Jan 15, 2012 1:34 AM PST up reply actions
you can, however, limit their playing time
"Anthony Davis is no different than Al Farouq Aminu." - J--Ridah
You can’t realistically tell any professional, whether it be a player or a front office person, to lose on purpose
but you can teach them that “winning” has different time frames and that losing games now to win more in the future is actually “winning”. The guys who buy into are the guys you want to keep as that means they understand the big picture and plan to stay warriors for a while, the others are just short termers.

It will be pretty hard to be worse than we was last season. No way are we a bottom 7 team by April. When SC30 gets back a winning streak is coming with him.
. When SC30 gets back a winning streak is coming with him
stef’s a bright boy. It might be worth going over the upcoming draftees with him and see if there’s anyone he’d like bad enough to take the rest of the season off to heal up?

by Skeptic con Urquell on Jan 15, 2012 9:39 AM PST up reply actions
See I don’t think you can do that either. Asking them to lose now to assure a brighter future is just unrealistic. Half these guys don’t even know if they’ll be on the team in the long term. So why would they hurt their own stock by playing poorly, thus losing games, and ultimately hurting their ability to ensure financial sustainability? That goes for players and coaches. As fans, we understand that tanking the season is in the best interest of the team, but again, we can’t, and shouldn’t expect players, management, or owners to do the same. They didn’t reach this amount of success by having a loser’s mentality.

More importantly
anyone capable of that mindset…I don’t want them on my team

you don’t want players who know how to build a winning team?

I don't want players who don't want to compete in every game they play
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMk5sMHj58I
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB5-yJM3vJc
Stephen Curry is tired of missing games. He doesn’t want to come back so he can help the team lose.
Kobe Bryant doesn’t fight through pain and injury to try to help the team lose.
Dwight has no interest in throwing every game this year so he can play next to Harrison Barnes.
Honestly, the only team I’m sure has tanked at times the past couple seasons, is the Washington Wizards. And it’s a wonder that some of their once-promising players continue to look less and less promising. Could it be a product of being taught and allowed to play losing basketball? Not a chance, right?
I would hope that players would know that purposeful losing is not a mindset that builds winning basketball teams. I would also hope that they recognize that the acceptance of losing, on purpose or not, is not something that builds winning basketball teams.
Now, the two videos I linked, didn’t come from the greatest coaches of their respective sport. But the message is clear. You play hard, you fight hard, you play for your team, and most importantly…
YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME.
http://nbawarriors.wordpress.com/
tanking is not instructing players to not try hard
tanking involves playing younger, but lesser players large minutes so they can develop their game. they’re simply not as talented as the opposing teams at the moment, which will result in losing a lot of games.
"Anthony Davis is no different than Al Farouq Aminu." - J--Ridah
If Curry could be convinced to sit the year out to watch scrubs run up and down the court, I wouldn’t want him either. and tanking involves basically non-existent coaching, as we’ve seen in Washington with Flip Saunders.
And regardless of how you achieve purposeful losing (in this case trading away anyone of value and benching Curry), you’re still trying to do it and everyone knows it.

well
i’ve wanted to see jeremy tyler develop. i guess i got what i asked for with this signing….
though it’s been said a million times before… earl barron is awful lol
Chris Wright is impressing the right ppl. He hasnt been cut or sent to the d-league yet. He’s done something impressive everytime he touched the floor. He could be a great find.

Hasn’t shown me much so far. Horrible hands and court awareness. I suppose he’s exactly what I thought he is, a freak athlete but not much else at this point.

I replied earlier thinking we’d signed EARL WATSON! HAH! – My Bad.
Who ever they sign to be the last man on the roster makes ZERO difference. This guy is just 6 fouls, like the headline says.
now on to a topic rarely discussed here: trade curry or monta?
