Postgame Quotes and Stuff from warriors.com recap
2:18 min: Mark Jackson Postgame - 1/14
On tonight's game:
"We jumped on them early and then we took our foot off the gas because we thought it was going to be easy. The good news is that we play again tomorrow. Ultimately this is the NBA, and when you think you can just walk into someone's home and beat them, it's not going to happen. We made them comfortable and they picked us apart. It was a disappointing loss across the board."
On the fourth-quarter comeback:
"It wasn't until the group came off the bench, hustled and played Warrior defense, which got us back into the game. They did a great job of fighting back."
On tonight's game:
"We shot 41%, and if we don't have it going we need to get stops on the other end, that's what's going to win games. We can't outscore teams anymore, we don't play that type of basketball anymore. We have to get stops on the defensive end and continue to play hard all 48 minutes."
On bouncing back after a loss:
"The best thing about the season this year is that there is a game every other day so it's a great chance for us to get our record back to where we need it to be instead of losing a game like this, a tough one, and waiting three or four days to play again. We have to show up, each and every one of us, and play hard, stop talking about it and doing it. We have the team to go out there and beat anybody, you've seen how we've played against the top teams, but we need to play like that against everybody."
On tonight's game:
"We just didn't come out ready. You give a team like that confidence in getting shots and they just ran with it from there. We came out early and looked like we were ready, but they scored 38 points in the first quarter so obviously we need to do something different."
On the team's mindset:
"I think we took it for granted. We came out thinking this was an automatic win, but this is the NBA so you have to bring it every night. Even if on paper you think it's going be a win, you still have to come out and get the win."
(before the game)
gswscribe: Steph Curry's likely return: Tuesday vs. Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers
gswscribe: Remember the functionality test Curry had to pass? It was scoring on his coach. Jackson joked: "For a desperate coach, that's all it takes"
gswscribe: Earl Barron will be in uniform tonight. But, Jackson warns, "We're not going to find another Kwame Brown right now."
Rusty_SFChron: Earl Barron is here for his first Warriors shootaround, but his practice jersey doesn't have a number yet.
Rusty_SFChron: Warriors say Steph Curry (right ankle) won't play tonight or tomorrow. Tuesday's game at Cleveland is the best chance for his return.
(after the game)
gswscribe: David Lee: “There’s no way we should have lost this game. We played like (expletive). You can put that (expletive) in quotes.”
- Earl Barron made his Warriors debut in this game.
- The next game is less than 24 hours after this game, at Detroit (3-9). I feel an 0 for 2 coming.
