Warriors still pursuing Howard
The Warriors are trying to acquire Dwight Howard, but Howard won't go anywhere unless it's the Lakers, Dallas or the Nets. Still, Golden State is trying. During a timeout in the Warriors' game against Orlando the other night, Mark Jackson told the Magic's big man he'd look good in a Golden State uniform.

he's not coming here
it’s bad management to pretend otherwise or have false hopes
look at the debacle with DJ – I understood going after Chandler, because it was clear Dallas wasn’t going to re-sign him. But Clips we’re clearly always going to sign DJ unless he was offered some crazy amount of money, and the Warriors obviously weren’t prepared to do that (and rightfully so, he’s not worth crazy amounts of money). So they made all these moves, dump Lin, didn’t re-sign Reggie, used amnesty on Bell, all for what? So they could be snubbed by the freaking Clippers and DeAndre Jordan? Great. What a great front office.
J-RIDAH: Its not 1 player in this draft better than Monta or Lee. Anthony Davis is no different than Al Farouq Aminu. Andre Drummond could be good but he is not impressive at this point at all besides his size. This draft is hella overated.

lol
What do you want them to do? They bought a bad team.

I want them to be realistic
and put together a long-term plan to turn the franchise around
it’s a super-tanker (hint, hint) not a Hyundai – not so easy to turn on a dime

I’m not saying you do this, but I think it’s a little unfair to on one hand blame the franchise for not making a “big splash” that they supposedly promised, but on the other hand chastise them when they do try to bring in a marquee player.

I’m not saying you do this,
I don’t do this. So don’t make it sound like I do. If you have that complaint about someone else, post a reply to that person. Appreciate it.

That’s why I said “I’m not saying you do this” which is pretty much as clear as one can possible get. So don’t misinterpret. Instead read the words that are actually on the screen. Appreciate it.

theres a pretty significant difference between signing a major FA to a multiyear deal and trading the farm for a half year rental of a marquee player. but i’m sure you know that already
"Anthony Davis is no different than Al Farouq Aminu." - J--Ridah
That’s true, but we also need to realize that if the team is going to get turned around quickly, then a leap of faith is required. Maybe “renting” Howard is the way to go, with the hope of convincing him to stay. Fans are clamoring for instant success, and a blockbuster trade is the best way to achieve that. If everyone is willing to be patient, then slow-building the team is the way to go.

orlando isn't likely to trade dwight until closer to the deadline
and by then, we could be pretty much eliminated from the playoffs already.

well you wouldn’t make that trade for this season.

No blame the management, they consistently go after the wrong players.
"I thought it was going in," Warriors center Chris Hunter said. "It looked like the invisible man tipped it away at the last second."
"He's chicken curry right now. He'll become beef curry a little later on."

They went after the best players that were within our price range.
by Slightly Hyphy on Jan 15, 2012 1:34 PM PST up reply actions
Deandre Jordan was not in our price range
if you include the fact that the Clippers were going to match unless it was a massive overpay (like in the 14 million range which is outside our price range). The run at Tyson Chandler was the only reasonable move I saw this whole offseason when it came to pursuing free agents. The DeAndre Jordan move was a last minute desperate attempt to get a big man without thinking about the repercussion of each of their moves (losing Reggie and wasting the amnesty on Bell).
I agree, Tyson had some logic behind it. DJ was a desperation move.

The said they would match, but Sterling is notoriously cheap. Warriors may have thought the Clips were bluffing.

As I said to kentoe -
- your choice of language is all out of proportion to the damage that DJ not signing did. Debacle? Please.
Lin doesn’t have a roster spot on the team as currently constructed. (Maybe he beats out Ish for that last spot, but I doubt it – and even if he does, he’s now cut.) The decision to draft Klay clearly suggested that the team wasn’t making a long-term commitment to Reggie – who clearly wanted to be somewhere he could get more minutes (and as I’ve said before, it’s a bad idea to match and keep players who don’t want to be here).
As far as the amnesty, with Biedrins resurgence, clearly he’s no longer an amnesty candidate. That leaves Lee. And the team’s not going to amnesty Lee – people need to accept that. So basically the used it on Bell, but it cost them nothing.
A “debacle” has to meaningfully hurt the team in some way. The DJ thing didn’t.
During a timeout in the Warriors' game against Orlando the other night, Mark Jackson told the Magic's big man he'd look good in a Golden State uniform.
The intentional fouling might have also been a statement of respect and telling Dwight that “I’ll do whatever it takes to win( might not be good at it yet but I’m trying)”

I bet that annoyed Dwight more than anything….Wasn’t exactly the best thing to do to someone we are trying to get.

His agent and him already said no to our faces
DH12 said no thank you to us in a post game interview and Fegan told management already he has 0 interest in playing here, time to move on

It would be an interesting test case to acquire him and then play chicken with his greed
It’s not like they’re winning games with that harmonious post-Nellie locker room. Might as well see if you can tell Howard that there will be no sign and trade. If you want to leave, take less money on the open market.
That probably would create an anus-load of drama but it’s not like the team doesn’t suck as-is. At least you might lose enough games to get a really high draft pick if he refuses to play and gets suspended without pay.
Man, I don’t care nothing about no Mike Montgomery.

That isnt who he is though
He’d likely play through it like he is now then just walk, I don’t think he cares about money as much as winning

Brooklyn , Jay Z and Mikhail P do have a certain glamour to it
He can make his own legacy there and not be compared to other Bulls greats and he teams up with DWill (which is today’s theme in the NBA, teaming up with your buddy)

Going to the Nets will be a huge mistake for Dwight
Deron and Dwight does not equal championships.

Thats what I think
Have they not learned from watching the Knicks? Miami has 3 big time guys so its different but the Nets would be the Knicks but slightly better

Deron and Dwight with right mix can win a title
Deron, Dwight, Morrow, Farmar, Humphries does NOT equal championships, lol.
He is not coming here
end of story. The front office needs to stop with this “win now” mentality and make some sort of attempt at trying to build (even if it is just for 1 star player) through the draft.
TANK MODE
Find a way to deal Ellis to NJ to Brook Lopez.
Keep Lopez and Curry shelved for a good chunk of the year and…top 5 draft pick.
NJ finds a way to sign Dwight and DWill
Dwight gets to play with Ellis
We start fresh with Curry, Klay, (Draft Pick), Lee, and Lopez. We need to suck in order to be good…Clippers, OKC, Spurs (Tim Duncan/David Robinson era). They all did it
Lopez even in a blow up situation is a terrible idea
And you’d deal Lee and Andris first and foremost if we were to blow it up

Dwight is going to LA for sure
He does not want to come here, Nets’ trade chip Lopez is injured, and the Mavs just have a bunch of vets. The Magic will not let Dwight walk for free at the end of the season, so they will make the trade to LA for a surging Bynum and Gasol.
"You ever see a bumper sticker on a Maybach?" said by Warrior's rookie Charles Jenkins when an ESPN reporter asked why he had no tattoos.
NJ can sign him I think straight up
Or S/T for him in the offseason, DH12 will opt out so he doesn’t have to be traded anytime soon

Dwight is going to LA for sure
If this did happen, FO ought to make contingency moves. Seeing DH 3-4 times a year?!? Welcome to our nightmare!
I don't know why anyone would pursue a player who has already said he doesn't want to come to their team
Kwame Brown was on his way to turning into a nice big man center for the Wariors, and he WANTED to play here. I really miss him.
Maybe the Warriors are just trying to cut their losses with Curry
They figure his ankle will be an ongoing problem and they can get Howard for him, then trade Howard to the highest bidder at the deadline.
Otherwise continuing to pursue him just seems to be a ridiculous waste of time. Trade Ellis for a first rounder and commence tanking. I want Kidd-Gilchrist.
the problem with that being that they wont even get him until the deadline if they trade for him

They might as well go for Dwight.
If they are going to tank and rebuild, this is the way to do it (depending on the trade). It at least gives you a chance at acquiring a top 5 talent in the league short term, with a chance to sign him long term. If it doesnt work out, then you rebuild.
To me, as long as the trade is structured ok, that is as good a long term strategy as just tanking, because at this point, with Curry’s ankle issues, its not really clear that we have any pieces to build around long term.
