Pacers’ Roy Hibbert doesn’t want extension
NBA.com reports that it looks like the 25-year-old is planning to possibly take his talents to another team as a restricted free agent this summer rather than trying to get the Pacers to sign him to a long-term extension.

And you don't want this?
Hibbert is an amazing center. I’d take Hibbert over Cousins or Bogut

restricted free agent
only way we can pry out a RFA is to overpay. I’d rather not overpay for Hibbert, but I do like him

I wouldn't mind a frontloaded contract
If we can move Biedrins and possibly Monta. Need to cut one of contracts, possibly move other for a better fit.
yeah, I mean, out of our options
maybe a slight overpay for Hibbert is our best bet
(or Biedrens really turns it around and starts aggressively throwing down dunks left and right like Blake)

hibbert got size and talent.
very coachable. Only reason not to like is that he may not be aggressive as other big centers…but plays with his mind.

I wouldn’t mind at all if we got Hibbert, if you look at the free agent big men out next off season, it’s really slim pickin’s
Dwight Howard is a UFA but hes definitely not coming here
Javale McGee is a RFA, but Wizards will for sure match any offer
after those two, it gets pretty bad
Ronny Turiaf, Ian Mahimi, Mehmet Okur, Desagana Diop, Omer Asik, Jermaine O’Neal, Chris Kamen, Ben Wallace, Elton Brand, Marcus Camby…well, you get the point.
I wouldn’t mind Mahmi or Asik at the MLE, but not as our starting Center, which brings us back to Roy Hibbert…
He's a RFA
We’d have to S/T since they will match anything
RIP Al Davis

if new jersey signs howard...
brook lopez will probably be the second best center in the FA offseason. and i think we may have a chance at him better than howard tbh.
brook is a perfect offense complement, but he is kind of a slow and not a good rebounder. Defense is ok I think.

We have to overpaid, no matter who we get

But some are worth it
Like Hibbert, Lopez is just not a good center

This isn't what the article is making it out to be.
He is going into restricted free agency because he knows people will want him and will raise the bidding war with Indiana. Therefore Hibbert will make more money by forcing Indiana to match an offer rather than agree to an extension without any other bidders.
For example, say Indiana offers him a $9 million extension. He doesn’t sign it, which forces Indiana to match a $12 million offer sheet by someone else.
This has nothing to do with wanting to play for another team. It is simply a way to make more money.
If other teams may not go crazy about you in free agency then of course you sign an extension and lock up your financial future. But if you know teams are going to go after you, like HIbbert, then you go into restricted free agency to make more money.
He doesn't want out of Indiana.
He just wants to increase the bid
Ran into Hibbert when I was at school. Just so happened to be wearing my City shirt that day

He was a really nice guy, got off the phone to take a pic with me. I told him how good he was and asked who his best friend on the team was and he said it was Darren Collison.
its going to be stephen curry when he gets here :)

yeah...but i think 13 would do just fine.
but since we are after a center hard core…i think FO will throw a Max at him, which I won’t be that mad since I think Hibbs is still young and can grow with this team. We are one center away from a playoff team btw.

I like Hibbert
I’d give him the money we were going to give to Chandler/Jordan. Wish the rebounding was a bit higher, but I really like him as a player.
That isn't the market
He’s a RFA as well

I think Hibbert is good but his price tag might be too much for his talent level.
I would rather have DeAndre Jordan or Tyson Chandler for the same price. There are many other Centers that I think would be better options, although they might not be available.
We'll probably have to chuck around 15mil a season to even have a slight chance
I don’t see us getting any impact bigs this off-season.. The best big man we can get is probably McGee if the Wizards think hes too much of a bone head to be matched
GSW '12 CHAMPS!
There is also Hawes
Who is only 23 and quietly having a good year.
Unrestricted.
13.9 pp36, 11.8 rp36, .601 ts%.
It’s scary cause he hasn’t done it in the past, however the talents always been there. He hits his mid-rangers pretty well (57% from 16-23 this year,42% for his career).
I think he could work well with Lee because he’d allow Lee to pick and roll and finish at rim
i like hawes a lot offensively
but does anyone have some advanced stats on his defense?
As a team, Phili's D is reallly good
This year phili is defensively 91.2 per 100 possessions with him
95.3 without.
Last year he was a defensive minus though 107.0 on the floor, 105.2 off
Front-load it.
In the summer, maybe we can tradE Biedrins to minnesota for someone like Pekovic, who makes 5 mil less.
That’d allow us to cut our payroll to 41 mil, allowing us to front-load a contract to Hibbert. What if we give him 4 years, 51 mil. 15, 14, 12, 10
I would pay for Hibbert
I’m not sure about the combo with Lee, but Hibbert is becoming a top scoring center in the league.
Get Hibbert and a legit SF like Wilson Chandler, and then that’s an off-season.
Curry
Ellis
Chandler
Lee
Hibbert
We can't afford both without losing Monta or Lee
