I’ve been really impressed by them this far. They don’t have a traditional “superstar”, yet they’re getting the job done on all aspects of the game especially their defense. Doug Collins and Michael Curry have done a really good job coaching this team so far.
they may not have a superstar but they are full of 2 way players
the warriors, on the other hand, are full of one way players

they had talent
Collins is a very good coach – few coaches can make such a big difference, but he’s clearly doing it
J-RIDAH: Its not 1 player in this draft better than Monta or Lee. Anthony Davis is no different than Al Farouq Aminu. Andre Drummond could be good but he is not impressive at this point at all besides his size. This draft is hella overated.
A little too early, perhaps?
I agree with Evanz — I love what Collins has done so far with the Sixers in terms of emphasizing fundamentals and defense.
Still, I’m skeptical so far of the hot start. Besides Atlanta, who do they have a quality win against? Speaking of schedules, Sommerfeld sums it up quite nicely:
You may have noticed the Eastern Conference is something of a mess. If the playoffs were to start today the Cavs would be the #7 seed. The Cavs are 6-7.
and a little bit later:
For starters the Atlantic Division is trash. While the New Jersey and Toronto are living up to expectations as two of the league’s worst teams, the New York and Boston have gone from presumed high-seed playoff locks to clubs that will have to the probable #7 and #8 seeds in the East respectively (and that’s only because the other eight Eastern teams are damn near hopeless). This Atlantic disaster has left the Sixers sitting pretty. In a shortened season, Philly has already managed to build a 4 game division lead, the largest of any team in the league.
Do I think they sit this pretty if they play Western Conference? Heck no. Could they be a deep playoff team? That depends on how they play the other top teams in the East. They play Miami tonight in their first game since losing in the first round last year. I’d say that’ll give a pretty good measure of this team’s capabilities.
Our best defender is probably Dorrel and He's not Bruce Bowen
We get outmatched every night because this team is trying to learn how to play defense.you would think it came naturally, but its take hard work and time. And our Big3 ELC isn’t the best defensive core
Udoh, McGuire and Rush are all better defenders
RIP Al Davis

By what metric are McGuire and Rush better?
I’m actually curious…I haven’t looked.

Phili annoys me
Play Thaddeus and Lou 36 minutes, Doug! My fantasy team needs it!
Phili shows how much perimeter D can go
them and Miami, to be honest. I don’t think either team is much better interior-wise than Warriors (slightly not huge).
Playing in the East is a pretty big component of their success too.

the warriors have played more games against the EC than philly has so far

I wasn’t talking about the Warriors. I think the article is about the Sixers’ success. They were a playoff team in the east, but I don’t think they would have made it in the West with their record. I haven’t checked the standings, but I know that is the case for a few of the east playoff teams last season.

well the article isn't about last year's sixers either

My comment was about last season and them making the playoffs with a 50% record. The worst playoff team in the playoffs last season for the West was 56%.
It’s definitely a huge advantage playing in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers are playing well this season but I know better than to make a judgement about them 16 games in to the season.

well you can see how a comment about last season
in response to an article about this season can be misinterpreted without clarification?

It was just a general comment about the Sixers. I don’t think we need to go down this path of pointless arguing again. Let’s save the mods some time so they don’t have to go clean out a thread again.

Except they haven't played that many games against the East compared to their peers.
