Also: Monta Ellis paid a surprise visit Thursday to "KJ," an Oakland teen who was shot last month, he got shot 10 times and was paralyzed in a case of mistaken identity

He shouldn’t be worried about shooting less than he did last year, because, well, he isn’t.

He should really be worried about missing more than he did last year, because missing shots at a high rate is a good way to help your team lose games.

His passing continues to be extremely solid. The visit to “KJ” … extremely solid as well. He seems to have a really warm and generous soul.

There will be no extra point!

I give him somewhat of a pass for the beginning of this season...

… with no Curry, no Nate, and DWright and Klay throwing bricks at the time…. he didn’t seem to be surrounded by better shooters during that period. The games with both Curry and Lee in the line up have brought out much more of the GOOD Monta that a lot of us hope will become the norm.

Obviously, we have several years of “Bad Monta” data to cite…. but there have been glimmers of great, team-oriented play from him this year that hopefully he can build on. We’re going nowhere with him as a chucker… I hope he (and Jackson) realize this.

it's odd but I like Monta so much more when he doesn't score as much

(and doesn’t shoot as much)

He could be so much more valuable to this team distributing the ball to better shooters (and we have a lot of them to choose from)

J-RIDAH: Its not 1 player in this draft better than Monta or Lee. Anthony Davis is no different than Al Farouq Aminu. Andre Drummond could be good but he is not impressive at this point at all besides his size. This draft is hella overated.

(JaVale) Mcgee is better than anybody in this draft.

Yeah, the problem is, the organization, coaches, and teammates all endorse him as being a “flat out scorer.”

this is why i’ve always been so hesitant to trade Monta. He’s not really helping us win, per se, but he shows these times (such as when he’s not shooting much) where you can’t help but think “if a smart coach put him in his place, got him to accept the role that he plays best, he’d be really good…”

Yeah, I go back and forth

In the context of a better team with a more defined role, he could be the xfactor who really helps you win. Imagine him as a 2nd/3rd option when you have Dwight, Durant Lebron, Rose, dirk etc. Someone who commands the focus of other team.

On the other hand, we don’t have those guys and can’t seem to get them. the one shot we had (CP3), we balked cause he wouldn’t resign (in my opinion, a mistake, I’d have rather gambled, and if it failed, gone full re-build).

Trading Monta for picks/prospects might be our best option to get that guy, we desperately need.

I just hope we don’t trade Monta for ‘equal value’ and by that I mean another good but not great player. Use him to either get prospects/potential/picks (which would make us worse initially) or to get a real superstar.

it's odd but I like Monta so much more when he doesn't score as much

and I like Montay much more as a person than as a piece for this team. We shoulda either built the team that best suits him of traded him for someone who best suits the team they want to build instead of just wasting his skills and hard work. As a person Montay’s probably the guy on the team I’d most be comfortable hanging with.

He's great at driving and dishing.

But he’s pretty bad at running a half court offense.

I mean Gov usually “hates” on Monta, but this time he is just stating facts.

To bad the shooter wasn’t as bad as Monta’s shooting
