Hornets looking to trade C Chris Kaman
I say we trade Biedrins and filler for Kaman's expiring contract so we have more cap space this off-season.

sure, why not
J-RIDAH: Its not 1 player in this draft better than Monta or Lee. Anthony Davis is no different than Al Farouq Aminu. Andre Drummond could be good but he is not impressive at this point at all besides his size. This draft is hella overated.
(JaVale) Mcgee is better than anybody in this draft.
Sure, but why would they trade a valuable expiring contract for Biedrins?
There will be no extra point!
How is Stern ruining the franchise?
As far as I’m concerned, he’s making it way more valuable.
He’s basically giving a new owner a complete blank slate with lottery picks.
Unless you’re one of 5-6 teams with a bonafide superstar, that’s what you want. Freedom to build without constraints.
I hope Ellison doesn’t actually buy the hornets. He’d move them to San Jose. He’d probably hire an intelligent GM who’d draft well, and make them more relevant than the Warriors very soon. I don’t think I could handle that
+1
Please do the trade, then Ellison move the team to San Jose, so we can all start be happy for Mr. Beans.

I hope he buys the kings and keeps them in sac with an open wallet to build with. They’d be a great incentive for the warriors management to improve things.

Why is staying in Sacramento a good business move for Ellison?

I’m not worried about Ellison, it’s a good move for me. My son lives in Sac so I could still go to games over there and the competition between ellison and Lacob would be sweet to watch play out.

Ha, no chance. Lacob & Co didn’t just throw down the amount of money they did to let a team invade their market.

though I'm a warrior fan 4 life..
it would be pretty cool to have an expansion nba team in san jose down the road…the team would prob have multiple top 5 picks the next 3-5 years and would have the possibility of drafting a couple future superstars…be fun to watch Lacob and Ellison try to one up each other…woud make the bay franchises super motivated/aggressive to bring in superstar talent with competition over fans within the same market

I’m not positive but I think NOH actually runs the risk of going under the min.
Gustavo Ayon has turned out to be a great signing for the Hornets which kind of makes Kaman the odd man out. Okafor and Biedrins are both way overpaid, but at least the Hornets can use their amnesty on Oak by next season.
I'd like to have the expiring contract and some minutes from him for this year.
However I would be absolutely against any long term signing of the guy. Just don’t trade any of our young guys in the deal.
I'm down
Biedrins could possibly be a decent back-up center to Okafor in NOLA, if they take that bait. Warriors would also shave off an extra 3.2M next offseason since he’s owed 12.2M
Yeah, the Warriors should pounce on this if NOLA’s down

i would assume they want more than beans

Me: So who (from the 2011 draft class) compares with (Anthony) Davis?
J-Ridah: Biyombo
i would assume they want more than beans
yeah probably some rice and meat to go along with them

According to Adrian Wojnarowski:
Hornets asking price for Kaman too high. “They were asking for draft picks, cap space and a young player,” one executive says.

Can Stern be our GM?
He seems to understand how to build a team better than Mr. Dickens
A 2nd round pick of the future, Kwame Brown (cap space), and Charles Jenkins (younger player)...
It doesn’t say it has to be a good package lol!
Biedrins is only 25
is that young enough? I’d rather keep Kwame for the Warriors’ own cap space, but if that’s what it takes….

Wait, what the heck are we getting in that deal?
by Missing Barry on Jan 29, 2012 2:29 AM PST up reply actions
for some reason i get the feeling...
the hornets want a future conditional 1st round pick/Jeremy Tyler/Kwame Brown for Kamen

Shows what Stern knows
I don’t want any part of him anymore

Kaman isn't worth all that
Would you deal a young player with reasonable potential, picks and another expiring for half a shortened season of Kaman?

Of course not.
But he’s setting his value high. Getting the hornets good assets.

That previous Woj tweet is actually a continuation to another tweet:
To be clear, Jazz checked on Kaman some time ago but doesn’t make sense now. Detroit likes him, needs center. Most teams have found (cont.)

and previous to that:
As NBA/Hornets survey trade market for Chris Kaman, Rockets, Pacers, Jazz, Spurs are a few teams with interest, sources tell Y!

I have no clue why I went through his timeline backwards…

Kaman is not a good player
If you're watching a blowout, you can pass the time by counting the double teapots.
Samurai Champloo > Macross
He's a 12M expiring contract that can shoot and rebound
a lot better than what the Warriors have in Biedrins

Wouldn’t you guys be suspicious if the Hornets got the 1st pick? Dunno if that’s just me…

2008- Chicago gets the number one pick with the potential of drafting a hometown kid.
2009- Big market team passes up smaller market teams.
2010- Wizards get the nod after the whole Arenas fiasco the year before.
2011- Sorry Lebron left, here’s a chance to start over.
2012- I own you and you will win!
Didn't someone in the Wizards organization die as well?

If you’re gonna use criteria like that, I could construct you a narrative why every single team in any given year should get the 1st round pick.

So true. But c’mon dude, you have to admit the Hornets getting the #1 pick this year is totally fishy. Oh wait…
