Don't know if the link works but heres the trade.

Washington gets Monta/Beans/ and Udoh
Warriors get Javale McGee and Rashard Lewis

Why this trade works for the Warriors:
Warriors get a center and a serviceable SF in Rashard Lewis. Yes he is getting paid way too much but his contract ends the same year as Curry is due for raise while getting rid of Beans.

Why this trade works for the Wizards:
They get Monta who if mixed with John Wall will be a very entertaining backcourt and they also get rid of Rashard Lewis and his contract while getting something in return for Javale who they don't want to resign which is Udoh. Also amnestying a contract worth 9 million is a lot better than amnestying a contract worth 23 million.

Solid trade

I could see both teams going for this if we get McGee to sign. If McGee wont sign, I’d want to add lee to the trade and get a 1st round pick back.

Op never mind you are right. The trade might still work since its either 23+ mil over 2 years of Rashard or a backup center for 9 mil flat for the next three years.

by mrorangesoda on Jan 30, 2012 11:44 AM PST up reply actions

that actually sounds like a good trade both ways

however, I doubt it will happen because of how highly Monta is valued by the FO

but when he opts out of his contract next year; they will have no choice but to try to get something for him

lewis's contract is non-guaranteed next year

so he can be cut without paying him anything more beyond this year.

Not entirely sure but I think if he was cut by the Wizards they still would have to pay him half of his salary.

by mrorangesoda on Jan 30, 2012 1:41 PM PST up reply actions

I'd do it. JeVale is exactly the kind of big man we need in the middle

He has some maturity issues, but with a coach like Jackson, I think he work well under his wing. I loved Rashard back in his Sonics days…then he got a ton of money and didn’t live up to the hype. As long as we only have to swallow a portion of this year’s salary, I’d be all for it.
This is better than the Monta for Kaman + a protected 1st rd pick that Steiny brought up.

We Believe!!!

I'd do this

and Lewis’s contract can be bought out for $10 million after this year.

by Nith on Jan 30, 2012 1:21 PM PST reply actions

Lewis has been awful

And McGee is dumb, rather just try and sign McGee. He’s a terrible defender

I just can’t see the Wizards giving up their starting Center to get a player like Monta when they’ve got similar players in Nick Young and John Wall already. It not only defies the “never trade big for small” adage, but if I’m not mistaken, they take on more salary as well (assuming Lewis is waived). Where’s the upside for them?

by Lacob's Ladder on Jan 30, 2012 2:19 PM PST reply actions

Oh yeeeaaah

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6oathca

And before, anyone tries to pull up stats, believe me, I know Wall’s numbers, I know how inefficient he is. I also know, majority of NBA scouts will still tell you, they believe in the right environment with the right coaching staff, Wall has potential to be as good as Rose, if not better, and has a mucher higher upside than everyone in this trade.

Yes it’s a gamble, but both he and McGee have all-star tools. In Wall’s case, superstar tools.

And our current core is literally going nowhere. This will take us to total rebuild mode now, and if they suck, for foreseeable future, where we can draft high and find the guy.

by tafkasam on Jan 30, 2012 4:02 PM PST up reply actions

And the Wizards would want to become a worse version of the current Warriors why exactly?

by Lacob's Ladder on Jan 30, 2012 5:39 PM PST up reply actions

our current core is going nowhere, so why would the wizards take all of our current core?

by AJC3317 on Jan 30, 2012 5:52 PM PST up reply actions

becaues they can't win games to save their life

and right now there’s major dissent in Washington of playing knuckleheads… quality people and players… btu yeah I don’t see this happening. Wizards would like Curry, Lee’s high quality, Monta has 2 years left and can lead, and Biedrins well is just a replacement.

I think we’d have to take blatche somehow though too…

Why on Earth? It’s simple, really – we’ve seen what Curry, Monta, Lee and Biedrins can do. We aren’t going anywhere with them. John Wall has the type of potential to really take us places, though. At the very least it puts us into a flexible cap position and will help us get a couple more lottery picks to help try to build a real core. Of course, why would the Wizards want to be the Warriors…?

by tafkasam on Jan 31, 2012 10:34 PM PST up reply actions

No, he’s been really inefficient. “Bad” would be someone like….Jonny Flynn. The important difference is that Wall mixes a lot of good in with the bad – there’s still a whole lot to like about John Wall, and to be effective, he still has to improve….but, well, 21 year olds usually do improve. Just look at guys like Westbrook and Rose.

Another Trade Idea

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=78dzvfg

Heres the deal, a three team trade

Warriors Receive: JJ Redick, Jameer Nelson, Robin Lopez

Suns Receive: Monta Ellis, Chris Duhon, Quentin Richardson, Ryan Anderson

Magic Receive: David Lee, Steve Nash

Warriors do it because it gets rid of two of their 3 worst contracts. They also have an average guy they can run at center. Redick is a solid player and his contract is only 2 years. Jameer is a player who has not been playing well but things could change and his contract is only two years. This makes the warriors worse this year, allowing them to keep their draft pick.

Magic do this trade in a last ditch effort to surround Dwight with what he needs. With Nash, Howard starts having more fun again and Lee turns into a better player with Nash feeding him. They have team that could compete for the title.

Suns do this as a way to get something for Nash before he is gone. They receive an above average players in Ellis and Ryan Anderson. They have to take two bad contracts but they are of the smaller variety.

by Oracle Junkie on Jan 30, 2012 5:05 PM PST reply actions

you sound like a broken record.

So you think we’re gonna turn Monta ellis into Steve Nash? Sorry not happening. ILoveWarriorGirls I can understand frustration with this team but stop repeating these absurd trade ideas that will never happen and start thinking more long term for the future of this team.

by Nith on Jan 30, 2012 10:02 PM PST up reply actions

Nash, Lee and Dwight would be PERFECT compliments on the offensive side of the ball! That would be deadly

by NICKelodeon on Jan 30, 2012 9:35 PM PST up reply actions

I agree that would be a fun team to watch

The Magic with a Nash, JRich, Hedo, Lee, Howard starting 5 would be awesome to watch offensively. They may have a few defensive issues but Howard could cover up for them.

by Oracle Junkie on Jan 30, 2012 11:32 PM PST up reply actions

Didn’t read any of the fanshot, but I assumed you concluded with “Javale McGee and Rashard Lewis…
…are both bad at basketball”?

by Missing Barry on Jan 30, 2012 6:16 PM PST reply actions

The trade for McGee and Lewis

I actually think Javale McGee can be a good player with the right coaching. Rashard Lewis is a sunken cost, but I guess in two years your done with him. If they were to make this trade I wouldn’t be to upset or excited. The concern I have with the deal is if Javale gets a big contract from the Warriors and he just stays the inconsistent basketball player that he is at this point. The other concern I have is Lewis taking time from any of our young guys because they are paying him so much.

by Oracle Junkie on Jan 30, 2012 6:55 PM PST up reply actions

McGee definitely has tons of potential. The biggest problem is he’s 24 and still doesn’t actually know how to play basketball, and even if he figures it out, he’s much more likely to end up being a Tyson Chandler-like role player than a real difference maker.

by Missing Barry on Jan 30, 2012 9:58 PM PST up reply actions

Tyson Chandler was a difference maker last season. Dirk has diamonds because of him.

by J-RIDAH on Jan 31, 2012 3:17 PM PST up reply actions

Ha, you’ve got yourself really mixed up there. Tyson Chandler has a ring because of Dirk. The guy who gives you the last marginal win might be the difference between a championship and not, but that doesn’t make the guy that brings one win to the table more important than the guys who bring the first 55 wins to the table. Over the last 10 seasons before Chandler arrived, the Mavs were 563-257, for a 68.7% winning%. Do we really need to go through and compare Chandler’s record to that? By the way, the Mavs D has been a lot better this year than last. That’s why we pay so much attention to sample size, though.

by Missing Barry on Jan 31, 2012 4:07 PM PST up reply actions

I like it

and think the Wizards would love to have one of the quickest backcourts ever, complementary at that, and get Udoh defensively.
