- but on that shot he had a lot of space since the defender’s momentum was still carrying him backwards. Very different shot from when he just dribbles around at the top of the key and then shoots.

May Curry be on the block if he consistently misses games due to the same ankle injury? That is the question.

by slapchop on Jan 4, 2012 7:45 PM PST reply actions

I dunno.

You can’t count on Monta and Curry playing like they were playing in the first half.

This team really needs to get more out of Lee and to figure out WTF is up with Dorell, who just looks tentative and awkward.

by Ronaldinho on Jan 4, 2012 7:46 PM PST up reply actions

yeah we are

the fact that monta has to play out of his mind just to keep it close shows that we’re quite a ways away. this team is not good

by AJC3317 on Jan 4, 2012 7:46 PM PST up reply actions

You’re full of it and negative. Besides Curry, no one really pulled their weight out there. I know you’d like to believe that these guys should already have it all figured out and put together under a new coach, but they don’t yet.

There’s no way Lee stays this awful. There’s no way Dorell stays this awesome. There’s no way Klay keeps bricking everything. Period.

And when those things stop happening, we’ll be a lot closer. Seriously. Our defense is going to be a lot more fun to watch when our offense stops sucking hot buttered poop.

by slapchop on Jan 4, 2012 7:49 PM PST up reply actions

there's a difference

between not pulling their weight, and just not being good. we’re not a good team. we weren’t a good team last year, and we didn’t improve this year

by AJC3317 on Jan 4, 2012 7:51 PM PST up reply actions

Right. You’re telling me that a season of marked improvement from Dorell Wright is not what I should be looking at. It’s the first 6 games of the season I should be focused on. Smart.

by slapchop on Jan 4, 2012 8:03 PM PST up reply actions

Wow. Monta clanks a jumper off the front of the rim.

He’s cooked.

The team’s got to figure out how to get more out of Lee on offense.

by Ronaldinho on Jan 4, 2012 7:45 PM PST reply actions

he's a pick and pop garbage man

unless he’s directly under the rim or driving a wide open lane on pick and roll he’s not going do much of anything on offense

Lee isn’t being paid $80 million to stand around. He’s supposed to be midrange and post-up threat. He can still score.

Okay maybe I went too far

More like he uses his shot fake to drive to the bucket. Point is, he can score. He was paid to take pressure off Monta. And yet he was a non-factor and we just had Monta try to score while the Spurs doubled him.

We can't keep having Monta shoot

We have to feed the ball to Lee. Win or lose. As you can see from this game, Monta got gassed at the end and the Spurs won.

he gets the ball in the post and passes back out. he gets the jumper, and passes it up. how do you feed a guy not very good at creating his own points? no post moves, and not that great with his awkward one-hand runner. he literally has no other moves

agreed.

neither of them are quite good enough to be successful against constant double teams the way the very best NBA players are, but they also don’t have anyone else to help them out and take over when they do get those double teams. Therefore, if they’re not both there, we have serious issues. This includes, injuries, foul trouble, being benched for poor play. To be a playoff caliber team, we seem to need the very best games…REGULARLY. That’s just not ever going to happen if they can’t both stay on the court.

by mekanikal on Jan 4, 2012 7:58 PM PST via mobile reply actions

Well. Monta played amazing...when shots go in. Clearly needs Curry to balance the starting roster.

Absolutely no bigs in the end to go to. David Lee is nice, but without Curry, no way Lee can handle double teams and TD. Clearly need a dominant center.

Now here is where it gets interesting. Lets say this, Monta is at an all-time high right now. Curry is injury-prone. What if we do trade Monta + fillers for Dwight because it may make sense for Orlando. Now I know many of you will NOW want Curry for Howard.

But look at this, Curry, when healthy, is f*ing amazing and can dish it. Now of course he now has that history of injury prone. But i keep thinking its because he is rushed to play. Now if we give him longer resting time where he actually heals, he may become better and less injury prone.

Now Monta is clearly the best player on our team and i fear Orlando may not want Curry anymore. If we do trade Monta for Howard, maybe, Curry can now be that second best player and hopefully injuries may subside. This may actually be a brilliant plan if Curry is back to normal.

*side notes. Klay sucks and Dorell lost.

but i still believe Curry still has a high potential.

I think its is just a weird injury because these aren’t forces injuries but just unlucky ones. So yes it means he has very weak ankles, but some are just unlucky because he looks so fluid but then an unlucky step will cause it. TO BE HONEST, I don’t think its the weak ankles…its how he manuevers. he likes to plant his feet before shooting and quickly he does it and that means weak foundations.

however, this current injury was supposedly a stuck shoe…talk about unlucky.

G minity... What the hell is Jackson doing?

Will somebody please ask Jack what the hell he sees from Clay Thompson in practice? Why in the WORLD is he, not only getting crunch-time minutes but taking the FREAKING ball up the court? He can’t pass (he almost got his shit picked like 3 times in a row), he can’t shoot (nice try that barely hit iron from like half court clown) and he looks scared as hell. Get him the hell out of there. Jack’s rotations in the fourth quarter are amazingly bad. These last 2 games have been tough to watch as Jackson gets TOTALLY outcoached in the final 5 minutes. Players look lost and are playing w/o confidence on offense and defense. Monta sees the same thing and just trys to take over. Run your offense and stop turning it into a blacktop pickup game. Awful shot selection and defense by players that shouldn’t even be on the court. Hate to see them play so jeckell and hyde. But guess what, bad teams find a way to lose games.
What can we do to finish out a game? It’s the NBA and most games come down to the final five minutes. That’s where the Warriors have been at their worst so far.

We hung with the Spurs for 3+ quarters, Monta played out of his mind. And the Spurs lacked their annoying robotic efficiency they usually have when they play us. I still despise losing to these fools. But I have to give credit for the W’s to almost achieving the near impossible.

Monta is the ONLY ONE that embodies the name on the front of that Warriors jersey. Everyone else showed a complete lack of fire, will, perseverance, toughness, and grit. It was sickening to watch. I honestly felt really bad for Monta, because he obviously played his heart out, gave it his all until there was nothing left in the gas tank, and his teammates just stood there like a bunch of wimps.

agreed completely. I seriously hope there is a trade brewing because the roster looks disconnected.

Monta and Curry look like the only “warriors” with monta embodying it more because he TAKES over games. I say Curry because of the past two years he has shown up time and time again even with Monta as his partner. Those two are what outsiders hear about and think about.

When I say Warriors, non-warrior fans will say Monta, Curry, and Mark J. Dlee/Dwight/Beans is non factors. I bet no one else can name 2 people on our bench. Seriously. We suck enough to have a weak ass bench. If we can ATLEAST trade, trade for a better bench and a better wing player.

The thing is is that we really beat down NY and Chicago and could have tonight beaten SA handily if curry doesnt hurt himself

Curry and Monta when together and playing well are good enough to keep us in it with most teams, but if one is out/ sucks we cant win.

mos def. But having one of them out is seriously a bad thing because no one else can share the load.

If Monta is out, Curry takes the load and seriously struggles because he can’t play a true PG without any help from others. If Curry is out, Monta takes it on to himself to finish games but is seriously hurting other teammates chances of ever getting hot and if Monta is not doing so good, we automatically lose.

We need a 3rd core player and it sucks because we can’t get it unless we drastically move one of the two “stars” we have. But i think we need a even more dominant player (DWIGHT HOWARD) to come in and relieve the stress on the backcourt. And like many have debated, I will trade either one and I won’t have a preference as to who gets traded because I love both and will be sad if one of them goes. They both give you different things all of them good. As long as we can get Dwight we will have a nicely set roster with a DOMINANT Center. We can also try and get Deron williams if Monta is packaged. if not, the 2012 FA class is pretty swell. I definitenly won’t be looking forward to tanking.

how many baskets did the warriors blow tonight?

off of setups from Monta Ellis?

its not wonder he shot so much. I would have, too. Some of the shots the Ws were taking were just WTH? type of attempts. Lee putting the ball on the floor and getting blocked. McGuire catching wide open from 12-15 but deciding to drive into 3 people. lee doing the same. Curry and Monta were setting eachother up great until Steph went down. They were the only two with anything going, so Monta had to take over.

In no way did he limit anyone else’s offense. He saved us from having to watch more of it, if anything.

Ironic how some people thought Monta would have permanent ankle problems after mopedgate

but it’s Curry, who otherwise never had any ankle incidents, has the lingering ankle injury.

He’s injured the same ankle 7 times in 1.5 years. That can’t be good, right?

Look, that's who Kwame is. He'll never be consistent from point blank range.

If you're watching a blowout, you can pass the time by counting the double teapots.

what can we do...beans would of have fit in that same position.

fuck i so wanted Udoh in the final minutes because of his post game. But i knew TD would out rebound him like crazy and just abuse him. Atleast on the O we can win with that. UGH. Warriors.

nothing really we can do

but doesn’t mean I can’t be mad. he’s a 50% shooter and couldn’t hit 1? that’s infuriating. its just the way our roster is, but until it gets better, I guess I’ll just stay mad
