I was listening to the Rick Barry interview last week on Chris Townsend's show on 95.7 The Game and he mentioned these shoes he's been endorsing. At first, I thought it was just Rick going off on one of his shpeels but after reading about them, why the hell not try em if I was Steph. YES, I know he probably has a shoe contract with Nike, but hey, what's more important? A few mil or being able to sustain a pro basketball career. Just a thought, if you're listening/reading, Steph. :P

Does anyone know what brand were the shoes he was wearing over the summer ? If it’s Adidas, he really wont be losing much money by switching over

you know what, I think Rick Barry said he wore these shoes over the offseason...

and said he had good success with them. Wearing them for a few months doesn’t prove anything, but if he didn’t turn an ankle during the time he wore it, he shoulda stuck with it. But the contractual obligation is there, I bet, so he thought his ankles were good to go. Time to at least go back to those shoes, if you ask me.

Whether the shoes are responsible for Curry's ankle or not

Curry’s shoe endorsement cant be good for the shoe company. Watching Steph break his own ankle over and over has made me think twice about wearing those thin Nikes.
Im surprised he still has an endorsement, it seems like the shoe company would be invested as much as the team in getting this issue resolved.

contraction of agreement with nike?

i think steph would have to break the contract and possible costing himself lots of money.

but yes i think he should switch because we are talking about his career here.

if nike wants to save face (which i don’t think they will really care because steph doesn’t have a pro model for himself) they would construct his own special pair. Its hard to push for a special model when steph hasn’t really become that big or a star player. maybe if he heals and goes to the all-star game, then maybe.

I did not see much on the website that looked impressive. They look just like any other shoe but with bumpers on the side and a Velcro strap. Seams like only a marketing gimmick. Regardless the trainers should look into them.

With all due respect, I am a Analyst Hall of Fame candidate. If you are offended by my comment, I did write "With all due respect".

I heard Barry on The Townsend Show, and he's compelling

But honestly, do you believe Steph wouldn’t do something to benefit his ankle?

This is a lot of Rick being Rick. A know-it-all, and clearly it’s nike’s fault. Nike custom made shoes for Steph. They probably offer the same/if not better support than these. The idea if these probably offer better ankle support than your standard store-bought Nike. However Steph has a team of scientists(?) working with him to figure out what’s best way to support his ankle.

Oh and he used them over the summer with no problem? I don’t recall steph once getting injured in practice or a pick-up game in his nike’s either. COmpletely different intensity.

I don’t blame the shoe just yet. But yeah, Steph should try everything.

Also Townie sucks. I refuse to listen to him, I just happened to surf and heard “RICK BARRY IN 5 MINS” so I had to tune in.

Yeah Townie sounds like a crass d!ckwad most of the time

I think he’s trying to take the Jim Rome approach by being the know-it-all a-hole but thats a whole different story.
I do disagree on the intensity these guys play at during the offseason. There have been many significant injuries to star players in offseason practices. I’m sure these guys often play 9/10ths or 10/10ths during some practice games.
I’m not saying these shoes are the ultimate solution but as a young elite player who has a lot of basketball ahead of him, i think he should take every precaution to make sure it stays that way if that means he loses his contract with Nike. Obviously they are not going to make a shoe to tailor to his weak ankles so ultimately its up to him if he thinks the shoes will make a difference or not. Maybe someone should tweet Steph and ask him! :)
