Postgame Quotes and Stuff from warriors.com recap
On Klay Thompson:
“It’s good to see him shooting with confidence, being aggressive, and not worrying about missing shots, because at the end of the day, he’s not coming out of the game because he missed shots; that’s not going to happen. He’s too good of a shooter and obviously you can see the weapon that he adds to our offense and the things that he opens up on the floor with his ability to shoot the basketball.”
On Harrison Barnes' Dunk and Performance:
“Well it’s behind Tom Chambers over me. Sorry, I just went back in time for a second. But it was a big time play; great pass by David (Lee) and Harrison really showed his athletic ability and that’s going to be one that he will remember for a long time to come. Just a great play by him. But more importantly for him, 11 rebounds; led us in rebounds. When you’ve got to be committed as a big man to box out (Nikola) Pekovic and also (Kevin) Love, you need your perimeter guys to go in there and rebound, and we out-rebounded this team. But it was by committee, and when we do that, we’re awfully tough to beat.”
On Bench Play:
“Well you hold this team to 11 points in the fourth quarter, I believe we went 12-of-13 in a six-minute span, stops against them; they shoot 27 percent in that fourth quarter, just a thing of beauty. We made the adjustments at halftime and Draymond Green was huge. We put him in there to try to get David a breather; Carl Landry was big time, but Draymond allowed us the versatility to maybe give David a breather and defend the pick and roll better. He tried to front and disrupt Kevin Love on the block. The guy just has a winning spirit about him and continues to make plays and the more you see him, the more you want him on the floor. But just great energy, great effort, and I thought that unit really put together a great run defensively and they sealed the deal by rebounding the basketball. And then offensively, we executed. The first half we turned the basketball over 10 times and it wasn’t because of their pressure, we were just careless and we’re not good enough to be careless with the basketball and look good.”
On The Season Thus Far:
“I’m very pleased and I tell you this: you look at our schedule and if you would have said 14 games in, with eight of them on the road against some good teams, we’d be 8-6 without our starting center, without our sixth man, with a bunch of young guys that just flat out compete. There’s going to be some tough nights for us; I don’t have to be a prophet to tell you that, but this team has something about it that refuses to let go of the rope. They compete, they get after each other, they hold each other accountable, and it’s fun to coach, it’s fun to be around these guys. We’re not satisfied, we still have a long way to go and a lot of tough games ahead of us, but this is a team that’s not going to quit.”
On Kevin Love:
“He’s a heck of a basketball player. He missed some shots, we contested shots, we didn’t let him dominate the boards. You can do a great job and he can get 30, so we’re not going to pat ourselves on the back. You do it by committee and you just live with results. But he’s a heck of a basketball player.”
On Tonight's Game:
“We tried to come out here and play hard. We weren’t happy on the way the Denver game went, we got killed on the boards, killed in the paint and transitions. So we just tried to come out here and be more aggressive.”
“We’re trying, it’s going to take some time and we have to be more aggressive. We just have to hold down the fort until (Andrew) Bogut come back.”
On Tonight's Win:
“It was amazing because they are one of the better rebounding teams in the NBA with K Love (Kevin Love) and (Nikola) Pekovic. I was really impressed with our front court and H.B. (Harrison Barnes), he played great from the three spot with 11 boards, it’s amazing for a rookie. If we do that every night our offense is there and our defense will hold us in it.”
“Oh yeah, we are only 14 games into the season and its real early. Just in the month of November I wasn’t playing last year during this time. I see an identity with us. We pride ourselves on our defense and our scoring is going to come naturally because we have talented players on the offensive end. We can’t wait to get (Andrew) Bogut back because we’re going to be that much stronger and so much better defensively as well.”
- No interesting notes tonight.
- We (the fans) will have a restless and hungry four days off until the next game, against the Nuggets AGAIN, the 3rd time this month. That must be a joke from the schedule makers. We'll be on TNT, so um, beat the Nuggets!
