The moment Brandon Rush came down awkwardly after being fouled by Zach Randolph in the first quarter of the Warriors game with the Grizzlies, the first concern for fans was obviously for Brandon's health this season and for any possible effect this injury could have on his career. Now that we've learned that Rush suffered a torn ACL that will indeed cause him to miss the rest of the season we'll see how coach Jackson and the Warriors respond, and who steps up in his absence.
As we feared (and was reported earlier) Rush is gone for this year. The Warriors issued the following statement, just minutes ago:
Golden State Warriors guard/forward Brandon Rush will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2012-13 season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee during the first quarter of last night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies, the team announced today.
A surgery date has yet to be determined. It is anticipated that Rush will make a full recovery.
We've discussed what Tyler can do ad nauseam around here, but this might be a chance to finally see MOAR BAZEMORE as we've all wanted. Although Bazemore is still adjusting to the NBA as a rookie, defense is a definite need with Rush going down and the hope is that Bazemore might be able to provide that in spots throughout the season.
I was actually just walking into Oracle Arena last night when Brandon Rush went down with his knee injury and as I was cringing, my heart sank because you knew this was going to lead to devastating news for him and the team.
I don't care what team a player plays for, you never want to see something like that happen. And it's just especially unfortunate in Rush's case because he had really turned a corner in his career last season and was going to be a major part of whatever success the Warriors hoped to experience this season.
All we can do now is wish him the best in his recovery and hope that he does indeed get back to 100% not only for our sakes as Warriors fans but for his as someone who had really begun to establish himself as a major contributor in the league.
GSoMers come out in force for GSoM night 12 at the Oracle, but the wind was taken out of everyone's sails when Brandon Rush went down with what appeared to be a serious knee injury in the first quarter. The crowd and the team never seemed to recover.
