Postgame Quotes and Stuff from warriors.com recap
On tonight's game:
"The first half was a thing of beauty. We defended, paid attention to detail and executed. In the second half we took our foot of the gas pedal on both sides of the basketball. We did what we talked about doing tonight."
On Stephen Curry's performance:
"It was a great homecoming for him. He is playing on an elite level right now. I know we keep talking about it, and sooner or later somebody is going to catch on. He is playing healthy, defending, and it’s great for him. It’s awesome to me to see good guys win one and he is certainly one of them."
On being 4-0 on the current road trip:
"We came in and worked our tails off and prepared ourselves for this season. I didn’t put any limitations on us; we are 14-7 with eight road wins. We are playing great as individuals and on the group effort. There are no limitations on this team. It’s a wonderful thing when you get a group of guys who are committed and they are buying in. Nobody wants to let go of the rope. I am extremely proud of the guys."
On the goals for the current road trip:
"The objective is to take one game at a time. We didn’t look at this trip and say to ourselves how many games we are we going to win, we looked at it like a business trip and take one game at a time and give our best effort."
On tonight's game:
"We got off to an early lead and they kind of made mini-runs the whole game that we had to withstand, but we got the win, so it’s a good continuation to the start of our road trip. We’re 4-0 and off to Miami now."
On scoring 15 points in the third quarter:
"I got some open looks early and was able to find my range a little bit and still got to the basket. Most of it was out of the pick-and-roll from the top of the key. I was able to get into the paint and make plays, and thankfully I hit a couple of shots and got in a nice rhythm."
On learning how to close out games:
"You want to keep your foot on the accelerator, but you don’t want to get reckless. I think that’s where we struggle a little bit, finding our balance when we have a lead or pushing in transition and keeping the same attacking mindset, but also knowing how to maintain a lead and not get reckless and take crazy shots. We have to get better at that and not losing our intensity on defense when we have a 20-point lead because we can easily give that back up, especially on the road."
On how good this Warriors team can be:
"We’re already much improved, but I think we can definitely keep the production that we have right now and make a big-time playoff run. It’s a long season and you have to take it a game at a time, but the teams that we’re trying to chase we feel like we’re competing well with. A good sign for us is the way we’re playing on the road."
On starting the road trip 4-0:
"It’s huge. This team has never been short on confidence, that’s one thing. We’ve got a group that trusts one another and a group that believes that we’re going to win every game that we play. Although that doesn’t always happen, we’ve been very, very fortunate to continue to grind out some victories and be where we are right now. We’re going to take each game, these next three on this road trip, and try to finish out this road trip 7-0 and we’ll see where it puts us."
On where he sees the team:
"We have a long way to go. Especially when we get (Andrew) Bogut back, we’ll have some adjustments to make as well because he’s such a good defender. We can always get better as a team defensively. The biggest thing for us though is continuing to bring energy, continuing to rebound the basketball and just trying to share the ball on offense. We did those three things tonight, we just had spurts where we didn’t do as good a job as we should have."
- Dell Curry on the Bobcat's broadcast said that Stephen Curry had sprained his MCL in the Wizards game. I guess it must have been a mild enough sprain (or just a tweak) where Curry can play through it with a knee wrap.
- And now, for another big test - the Miami Heat. We get to see just how good our defensive schemes are and what our offense can do against a good opposing defense.
