Postgame Quotes and Stuff from warriors.com recap
On David Lee, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson All-Star Consideration:
“Well to quote the legendary Kevin Garnett, anything is possible. These guys are very deserving, but we are not in this for personal recognition. We are in this thing on an assignment as a team. If those things happen so be it, it would be very deserving. I’m pulling for it but we are here to win as a team and continue to get better.”
On the win:
“We had an emotional victory last night in Brooklyn. We traveled and I know the guys were tired because I was tired this morning. At the end of the day they made plays, they made shots and we found a way to put together a string of stops, a string of possessions offensively where we executed and made plays. Just another big time victory for us.”
On the team's defense:
“We are built on the defensive side and we will put together a string of defensive stops. I’m not worried about our offense, I’ve never been worried about our offense. Defensively, we are good enough where we know when it’s time to put some stops together. We did it, we rebounded and dominated the boards and got our offense going, but our defense is what carried us.”
On the three-game winnin streak:
“We’ve got good momentum right now. The team’s playing well. We’re finding all sorts of different ways to win. We had to hold on when they were making all those crazy threes at the end, so I’m just glad we got the win tonight.
On changing the Warriors culture:
“We’re trying to change the culture and overcome a lot of things that we’re not used to. You’ve got to be able to perform at a high level night-in-and-night-out on the road and we’re playing well.”
On the season:
“Every game is different. Our team is going into these games and believing we’re going to win. We just have to see how the game shakes out and different guys are stepping up every single night. We’re trying to just believe in one another, get stops and get rebounds. It’s working out well so far.”
On differences between this year and last year:
“A big difference this year was getting Draymond (Green), Carl (Landry) and Jarrett (Jack). That has given us some depth. We had a full training camp this year and coach has been able to get his basics implemented. The biggest difference from last year was rebounding. We were 30th last year, and we’re top five this year. We were getting stops last year, but the team would get the offensive rebound and put it back in. Those are the plays that break your back. We lost so many close games because of reasons like that last year. Meanwhile, this year, we’re doing a lot better job rebounding the ball and getting stops. Offensively, we have plenty of firepower, so it’s working out for us.”
On the team's mission:
“Our goal stays the same. We’re going to take each game individually. The next game we got a team in Charlotte that’s beat some of the best teams in the league. They’re good at home, and they smoked us last year by 50 points. We go into the next game with a great game plan, and great mindset, in order to repeat some of the things we’ve been doing.”
On starting the roadtrip 3-0:
“I think it’s our effort and unselfishness. We just share the ball well. We have to cut down on our turnovers, but no one is out there trying to put up numbers, we are just trying to get the win. We played real well tonight, started sharing the ball and talking on defense. Their record might not show it but they are a talented team and it’s not easy to win on the road. We came out here and took care of business.”
On differences between this year and last year:
“We got a toughness about us that we didn’t have last year. We don’t fold under pressure, like in the fourth I think we are 10-0 when we have a lead or something like that. We are just a lot more persistent as well. We might be down 10 or 15 points, but we hang in there and play good defense. Last year we talked about playing good defense but this year we are actually doing it.”
- No interesting notes tonight.
- The Bobcats have lost their last 7 games and are falling like a rock. Stephen Curry's excited to be back home. Expect a standout performance from him.
