As avid Warriors' fans, most of you already know that if the Warriors are not one of bottom 7 teams in the league (given their great start, this is highly unlikely), their draft pick goes to the Utah Jazz as a part of that terrible Marcus Williams trade.
But, what some of you may not know is that the Warriors will not have their 2nd round pick from this year as well. This pick belongs to the Denver Nuggets, who got the pick from New York in the Carmelo Anthony trade, who got the pick from us in the David Lee trade (very interesting history lesson, indeed).
What does this mean? Well, the most obvious inference that can be drawn from this is that, barring any future trades, the Golden State Warriors will be inactive on draft night. But, probably the most logical inference that has to be drawn is that the Warriors better make a nice playoff push this year. The reason is not only for their own team morale and for their growth and development, but also because of the fact that the Warriors will have to look to Free Agency for help at the end of the season, because they are definitely not going to get any help from the draft this year. Free Agents have tended to shy away from the Warriors because of, well, their history. It's time for the Warriors to change that course this year, especially because they have no picks this year.
Just a heads up.
