Now is the time to make a trade.

I just think that D. Wright getting his rhythm back. Steph Curry seeming healthy. Monta Ellis being consistent. Klay Thompson hitting his Jump Shot. Andris Bierdnis sucking little bit less, now is the time to make a trade if we want to get better. I do believe in the current Warriors, but after not being able to grab a rebound during the most important time, we need a legit team. That just doesn't rely on the jump shot.

I think anyone on the Warriors is tradeable. Everyones value is high right now. David Lee is doing great, putting up decent numbers. Epke Udoh is playing defense out of his mind, and Jeremy Tyler is getting playing time.

Something can happen. (Dwight Howard)

I know its a long shot, but I can hope.

Long shot, but a possibility. Tell me, who you would like to see be traded, why, and for who.

Also how it will help the Warriors.

Other than your Dwight Howard notion...I agree that we need a trade now.

The question for me is….
Are Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry and Kwame Browns expiring contract worth a draft pick to any of the bottom feeders….
The Charlotte Bobcats are a great example as they and Curry seem to have a love affair for Curry, a lot of bad contracts, too much young talent and a top draft pick on the way.

Stephen Curry and Kwame Brown for Matt Caroll+Desagan Diop or Corey Maggette and their draft pick.

Perhaps Monta Ellis would interest the Nets. Especially after losing Deron Williams when they lose out on Dwight Howard (which they will). They will need some sort of star power that isn’t yet another young draft pick. Monta fits the bill. This could work out for Washington, Toronto, Detroit and Sacramento as well. However, I wouldn’t trade Ellis to Sacramento unless they move to Seattle as I really hope they do!

Monta Ellis for a draft pick

With our backcourt being Jenkins and Thompson with a bench of Robinson and whatever bad contract we picked up the Warriors will be in tank mode and will definitely get a top 7 draft pick.

If this was all possible the Warriors now have three lottery picks….THREE OF THEM.

I’ll let you guys play with the options.

How many games has he missed?

His ankle is not 100%(well maybe it is but mentaly it isn’t) and you say he’s burned on D? He was playing average(or slightly below average but way off from “burned” on D) D before the ankle and has become a much better defender then he was earier in his career.

by buky on Feb 7, 2012 6:21 PM PST up reply actions

My take

Move Ellis and Lee for youth, draft pick(s), better rebounders at the 4/5, and/or cap relief. Move Biedrins for a couple expiring contracts. Play well developing what we have left but end up keeping our pick. With 2 (maybe 3) lottery picks in this draft we could put together a starting line up for years to come, have cap space for a nice FA signing, and keep a similar bench.

Curry / Thompson / Wright / FA or Draft / FA or Draft

I like the idea of drafting Thomas Robinson to be our 4 of future.

Break up the "big 3" and trade Monta

Time for Monta to go. David Lee is an asset so yalzz nutz to trade him. Warrior fans look at the contract instead of the quality of the player. Big men as multi-faceted and skilled as David Lee are not common.

Monta is permanent tweener, undersized, defensive liability, chemistry killing, over-used, score-only, 7 yr pro who’s taken us precisely NoWhere with him being “the man.” I want to see a team built with Curry and Lee. Klay Thompson has game and can take over the 2. So a team with Curry Klay and D Lee. Now who to trade Monta for?

Anyone. I’d prefer a quality player over a draft pick. Michael Beasley, Iggy, Rudy Gay, Josh Smith, etc. should all be targets. The window is closing on trading Monta. Wait til he demands a trade some day and then we’ll get jack shee—.

Curry / KT / Josh Smith / Lee / Biedrins would reap better results.

by RowellMustGo on Feb 7, 2012 9:14 AM PST reply actions

Josh Smith, Michael Beasley are nice.

Both Playing the 3 would be awesome, with Curry, Thompson or Rush out there.

Ew. Neither are effective wings.

by Missing Barry on Feb 7, 2012 7:23 PM PST up reply actions

Josh Smith is an "eww"?

I admit that he’s not the most efficient offensive player, but I love his overall game, especially when he plays within his game

I say we go after youth

Move monta to Utah for alec burks, derrick favors, and raja bell. We immediately get bigger, younger and better defensively while possibly giving Klay a chance to step into the starting role and develop more.

We could also move steph, biedrins, and dwright to indiana for hibbert, paul george and a first round pick. Id even consider this trade without the first rounder just because i think we need to shake things up. With hibbert and george we immediately get bigger and younger again with promising center and small forward of the future. This also allows klay to step in at the 2 to develop while we slide monta to the 1 where he wont be outsized as much.

I ran both of these trades on espn trade machine and they say both teams increase their win total. It’s time to make a move. Sure this team has a lot of potential, evident by wins over miami, new york, portland, chicago, and so on. But potential is just ungrasped success and i feel like we’ve had “potential” for a few years now. Clearly things arent working when we have losses to horrible teams like charlotte (3-21), phoenix, new jersey, and sacramento. Not saying Utah or indiana would even consider these deals with their current success, but its worth a shot since both teams would benefit in my opinion.

by bayareakid on Feb 7, 2012 10:45 AM PST reply actions

im really intrigued by the utah deal

i doubt indiana does that 2nd deal but the utah trade seems to benefit both teams

Trade Ellis for Young Talent, Draft Picks & Cap Space

Lets face it, this team is going nowhere with Ellis & Curry as your best players. Here are a few trade ideas (which I must say aren’t great deals but may be realistic).

MINNESOTA:
Trade M.Ellis for D.Williams, L.Ridnour, B.Miller &1st Rd Pick

UTAH: (similar to a previous comment)
Trade M.Ellis for P.Millsap, R.Bell & 2nd Round Pick (I’d rather have Favors than Millsap but would they part with him?)

CLEVELAND
Trade M.Ellis & A.Biedrins for A.Jamison, T.Thompson. A.Parker & 1st Rd Pick

MILWAUKEE
Trade M.Ellis for E.Ilyasova, J.Leuer, B.Udrih & 1st Rd Pick.

BOSTON & CLIPPERS:
Trade M.Ellis for R.Allen & 1st Rd Pick (then flip Allen to Clippers for M.Williams, T.Thompkins & 2nd Rd Pick)

LAKERS & ORLANDO:
Trade M.Ellis, D.Wright to Magic (via Lakers). Magic also get A.Bynum. Lakers get D.Howard, H.Turkoglu & E.Udoh. Warriors get P.Gasol & Orlando’s 1st Rd Pick.

Just throwing some ideas out there. What do you all think?

by warriordrp on Feb 7, 2012 6:28 PM PST reply actions

How is this realistic???

I am sorry but you place wayy too much value in Monta Ellis. After reading Ellis for D. Will and a 1st rounder I could go no further.

by Oh no UDOHnt on Feb 7, 2012 7:05 PM PST up reply actions

I think I'm undervaluing him, as I don't like his game at all.

However, he can carry a team once every three games, and as a 2nd option to Love, the Wolves would be dangerous. Williams is not a lock to be a good player at all, and he doesn’t compliment Love either (both post/bangers). A mid 1st round pick is overwhelmingly likely to bust out. I’d have to hold my breath to make this move.

by warriordrp on Feb 7, 2012 7:22 PM PST up reply actions

They just took Williams #2 overall. We couldn’t trade Monta straight up for the #2 pick, much less that + a 1st.

by Missing Barry on Feb 7, 2012 7:25 PM PST up reply actions

Not sure how that's relevant

You trade talent for talent, not on the basis of a draft slot. Darko was a #2 pick, would you trade him for Monta?

by warriordrp on Feb 7, 2012 8:47 PM PST up reply actions

I argue yes

Monta is going off right now, but I would do this trade

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6rpqf54

Warriors receive: Michael Beasley, Darko Milicic, Martell Webster, Brad Miller and a future 1st rounder

Minnesota receives: Monta, Biedrins and Dorrell Wright

by Oracle Junkie on Feb 7, 2012 8:51 PM PST up reply actions

If the Wolves would take Biedrins, I'm in

Then they can amnesty him, as the Warriors should have.

by warriordrp on Feb 8, 2012 6:16 PM PST up reply actions

The point is that Williams was just taken #2. He isn’t Darko. He doesn’t have years worth of data to evaluate. You do have a point on looking at the talent rather than the draft slot, I’ll give you that, but the point is Williams has a lot of value right now – that’s what made him the #2 pick.

by Missing Barry on Feb 7, 2012 9:37 PM PST up reply actions

I agree

There is no way we get Derrick Williams

by Oracle Junkie on Feb 7, 2012 11:46 PM PST up reply actions

Now is the time to make a trade.

I daresay the time to make a trade is when another team is willing to make one you like…

by Missing Barry on Feb 7, 2012 7:24 PM PST reply actions   1 recs

I think that is the key. You have to wait for a team that is more desperate than you are to make a trade. The Warriors were able to get Baron in a one sided deal because the Hornets were desperate to get rid of him. If you want to get a good deal, you have to be patient.

Pau Gasol

If somehow, we can get Pau Gasol in a three way trade. We can have a dominant team for couple of years, if he doesn’t get hurt.

Minnesota is just such a perfect fit for Monta...

i hope they keep winning and Kahn decides to add a piece….they got a redundant piece in Williams….they would be filthy with a Rubio/Monta/Love core.. need to find a way to make the contracts work but something like Monta + Udoh + Dorrel for D. Williams + Wes Johnson + filler and Anthony Randolph because I still love him.

by JimBarnett2KevinGarnett on Feb 8, 2012 2:33 PM PST reply actions

you trade monta ...

for a big man potential beast on a rookie contract..that is a dream scenario…I don’t think Monta could get Derrick Williams straight up…so this trade is unrealistic…but how does it help? Derrick Williams is a very valuable piece…we got Klay as a monta replacement….asking Minny to throw in a draft pick on top of williams is just insane..we aren’t trading Chris Paul
