Postgame Quotes and Stuff from warriors.com recap
On Tonight's Game:
"The frustrating thing is that we had the opportunity to close out the game. We needed one stop and we didn’t get it done. It’s disappointing. We had an opportunity to win this ballgame up three and we didn’t close it out. Situations like that, worst-case scenario there should be a guy forced to take two free-throws. You can’t give him the basket and the foul. Better off even letting him go and dunk it. Just a bad play."
On Richard Jefferson's Performance:
"He’ll be fine, he’s going to be fine. Missed some shots, a little bit out of sync, but he’s going to be fine. We are not worried about him. We know exactly who he is."
On Giving Up 65 Rebounds:
"You get five point guards that want to go get the rebound and they won’t give up 65 rebounds. We didn’t do the job on the boards."
On Having A Chance To Win In Regulation:
"We were up three there and then Favors went down the hole and unfortunately he made the bucket and got the foul as well to tie it up. Since Richard (Jefferson) had a mismatch coach designed a play to take him off the dribble and we weren’t able to score on that. In overtime they had home-court advantage and overwhelmed us. We had a couple plays there, especially the stop that we needed to make being up three with 30 seconds left. We need to be able to make that."
On Tonight's Game:
"They came back, they made some shots, they made some plays at the end of the game. I didn’t shoot the ball particularly well. There were some shots that I could have knocked down, but you win them as a team and you lose them as a team. There wasn’t one individual play that lost this game, it was a series of them. Even in overtime. They made their first three or four shots. Whatever happens in regulation or however you get there you have to clear your mind and play a fresh five minutes."
On Playing To Win:
"We’re professionals. You better want to win. That’s what we are here for. We aren’t here just to collect a paycheck and have fun. Every night the effort has to be consistent. Then you learn how to win, you learn the plays you need to learn and how to depend on each other and then you carry that into next season."
- No interesting notes to add tonight.
- Tired of the 6 game in 8 nights back-to-backs? Good news! The next game is a single game. The bad news? Another 6 games in 8 nights right after that.
- The next game is also Chris Mullin's number retirement night.
