Let's say the Warriors manage to keep this protected draft pick we're fighting for. What would you have them do with it? I'm interested to hear what y'all have in mind. JUST FOR FUN.
Looking at the current roster, I believe the Warriors are one move/piece away from being competitive in the West. Because of this, I would prefer to use the pick to somehow add a player who can help us win right away, but I understand if other people feel differently. What do you think? I hope you smart people (jae, Ronaldinho, Sleepy Freud, Evanz, etc.) share your thoughts. I'd love to hear what you have to say. Is this short-sighted of me?
One thing the Warriors could do is trade the pick with a couple of our bad contracts for shorter bad contracts. For instance, trading Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins, and the pick for Rashard Lewis might be feasible. Lewis's horrible contract expires after the 2012-2013 season, so we would gain that cap flexibility a year early. However, I'm sure many of you would not consider it worth losing a high pick in a deep draft for cap flexibility coming one year sooner.
Alternatively, I'm sure plenty of people would like to actually use the pick in the draft and add depth to one position or another. Unfortunately, I'm just not confident in our ability to draft a good player--especially one who can contribute right away.
Are there other players on our roster you would pair with this pick to get rid of? Are there players on other teams you would like to use this pick to pursue?
