So lets examine our trading up possibilities......
No.1 Anthony Davis goes to N.O. already done, over it.
No.2. Charlotte needs just about everything. They have one terrible contract that we would have to take in order to complete a trade with them. Tyrus Thomas at 7.5 mill for 3 years. They also need to stockpile young assets as well, so our 7th pick most likely will need to be included. So that being said, the 3 key elements of this deal would have to be Charlotte trades the 2 and Thomas to the Warriors, and the Warriors trade the 7plus what??? Likely scenarios would include Either RJ or Beans, due to the length (one year less than Thomas) plus more assets. Maybe Dorell and the 30th pick would have to go as well. That scenario seems doable, yet highly unlikely but if the Bobcats like someone around the 7 they may be tempted. If I was them, I'd happily take RJ plus Dorell the 7 and the 30 for the 2nd pick and the ability to get rid of the Thomas contract.
No.3 This spot is the one the Warriors should target if they are really trying to move up. The Wizards could use this pick to trade down, and also unload Blatche at the same time. Another similar scenario could play out where the dubs send them RJ plus the 7 and the 30 for Blatche and the 3. Washington is trying to change the culture of their team, and Blatche is a symbol of what was once all bad in Washington. To be able to unload him for a good character vet on a contact that has less years and to only drop 4 spots while also acquiring another pick could definitely go over well with them.
No.4 Cleveland has no worse contracts than us, and we do not have much to offer them only to trade up 4 spots. Trade with them is unlikely.
No.5 Sacramento has a ton of awful contracts that they'd love to rid themselves of, and are in desperate need of a roster overhaul. John Salmons makes Biedrins money with an extra year, Garcia makes 6 mill for 2 more seasons, and Chuck Hayes makes 5 mill for the next 3. If they are not sold on any players at the 5 I can imagine them wanting to trade down for some contract relief. Most likely scenario with us would be Salmons plus the 5 for RJ plus the 7 and the 35. Question is would the Warriors do it if they saw a can't pass on player still on the board.
My assessment leads me to believe the 2 likely scenarios in which the dubs move up would be to claim either the 2 from Charlotte or the 3 from Washington. So that begs the question then, who to draft at either of these positions??
Personally I'd be extremely happy with either MKG or Robinson at those spots but would lean toward MKG because of need for a 3.
