Draft Day Trade Story from Steve Kerr

I was watching NBAtv draft special last night, and Kerr offered this story on how draft mistakes can happen unexpectedly.

In 2009, they really liked Jrue Holiday. They were considering taking him at #13 if he fell. On draft day they were convinced they had a deal with GSW for Stephen Curry. They had a verbal agreement but nothing in writing (the Biedrins, Curry and BW for Amare trade).

With that in mind, picking at #13 Kerr saw his roster with Nash, Dragic (who he liked) and Stephen Curry and thought 'we can't take Holiday' so they drafted Earl Clark, a guy he thought would be a valuable glue guy.

As it turned out, Warriors changed there mind, and he lost the PG he wanted most after Steph.

— Sorry Phoenix Moral I took from it? You should always draft the best player. you can work out trades for roster fits later
