As we all know now, Andris Biedrins is facing some tax penalties back in Latvia, that could hold ramifications of up to 6 years in prison. The simple question the situation poses is this: Does this mean the Warriors have found a way out of the remainder of his contract? Ironically, it seems like a legitimate way to sever the financial commitment that still lies over the Warriors.
Personally, I'm not sure I feel bad for Biedrins. Not only did he break the law under no pressure whatsoever, but he also hasn't done much to honor his commitment to playing quality basketball, and has become a nuisance with the clout of his contract. This would be a blessing for the Warriors. As the saying goes, "One man's trash, another's treasure", Joe Lacob's Warriors may have a Godsend on their hands since blundering their amnesty on Charlie Bell, when his bags were already all but packed.
I just want to know from someone who knows. Is it possible?
