Can Stephen Curry become an elite Point Guard now that Monta is gone?

During all of Currys time on the Warriors many people blamed Monta of taking most of the shots and holding the ball more than Stephen Curry. But now there is no excuse for all of that because Monta Ellis is no longer there and Curry is a full time Point Guard with no one else to hold it all the time. I really like Stephen Curry and I really want him to succeed as a great Point Guard in this league and average more assists than 5 or 6. We all know he can score but if he gets to at least 20 points a game with more more than 5 or 6 assists he will be an all star. Curry has many firepower on his team so he has many options on offense to get assists, especially with Harrison Barnes and Andrew Bogut there is many assists options But all of this is possible if he gets completely healthy next season.

So can Stephen Curry become an elite point guard next year and get his assists to atleast 7 or 8 or maybe even 10?
