Per 36 minutes, Jarrett Jack is averaging 16.0 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.3 rebounds. On the surface these numbers sound solid, good even, yet these stats aren't jumping off the page to anyone outside of the Bay Area.
Well, they should be.
Compare these numbers to this so called player A: 19.0 points, 6.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per 36 minutes. Similar enough, right? Well, player A is Jack's teammate and probable all-star Steph Curry.
This, however, doesn't come close to explaining Jack's value. For that, we must look at efficiency and shooting stats. This is where Jack's numbers have been truly eye-opening.
Jack is in the top-11 among qualified NBA guards in eFG% and TS%, where he ranks 9th and 11th respectively. Jack's eFG% (which adjusts traditional FG% to factor that 3-point shots are worth more than 2-point shots) ranks higher than both Blake Griffin and David Lee, two players having all-star caliber offensive seasons. Jack's TS% (which takes into account all shots including free-throws and adjusts accordingly) is comparable with Manu Ginobili and Chris Paul, efficient offensive players to say the least.
Where Jack has been most successful has been in the mid-range (between 10-15 feet) and beyond the 3-pt arc.
The first 20 seconds of THIS video perfectly epitomize where Jack has been effective on the floor. In fact, this whole video shows a lot of what Jarrett has been bringing to the table this season shooting-wise.
Numbers-wise, Jack has an eFG% of .615 from 10-15 feet which is similar to Tyson Chandler's .689 eFG%. What makes this incredible is Tyson Chandler gets virtually all of his baskets on put-backs and dunks. This shows you how deadly and efficient Jack has been in the mid-range game.
Beyond the arc is a similar story. His 43.9% shooting from deep is 8th among qualified NBA guards and eFG% from distance is .659% which if Jack were to only shoot 3s at his current pace he would rank 2nd in the NBA in eFG% behind only Tyson Chandler.
All of this from a bench player.
As a Warriors fan you have to be ecstatic about his efficient, tough, and clutch play. I hope I made you realize just how efficient it has been.
