Yes, the success has gotten to our heads THAT fast.
In all seriousness, I remember at the beginning of this year (and the year before that) how hot of a commodity Mike Malone was in head coaching vacancies. He already had a great reputation. Now, barring a major choke, with the Warriors amazing turn around season officially under way, I imagine it's not a matter of if but when Malone leaves.
Something else I recall is the fact that there were many Dubs fans clamoring for the dismissal of Coach Jackson to spur the promotion of Malone (and to simply keep him within the org). With that in mind, I was wondering what the consensus seems to be now. Obviously we've improved mightily, especially on D. How much can be attributed to Malone? Or even Jackson? If Malone leaves will the D regress a bit? I have no idea who - if anyone - is the primary factor on the defense improving. All I know is that if it turns out it is indeed Malone, I'm not sure it'd be wise to let him go.
Despite that, my question to all you, my fellow sadists *cough* I mean Warriors fans, isn't so much "Who is responsible?" as it is "Has this small sample size of a half season convinced you that MJ is definitely the man we want as our coach or would Malone be the more beneficial choice going into the future?" I imagine answers are going to be based off how much credit for this recent success you give to Jackson as opposed to the coaching staff or the players themselves (chemistry, growth, consistency, etc).
