Mark Jackson
On tonight's game
“I thought we executed offensively and again, we did the job defensively. Good win for us. You hope that the defense becomes the norm, which it has been for a couple years now. We take pride in it. Guys drill it. They’re awfully good. We pay attention to detail and we give energy and effort. Great results follow. Offense will go upand down, but defensively we have an expectancy level, and, again, tonight we met it.”
On his reaction to Curry's injury in the fourth quarter:
“Just trying to make sure he was alright. Took a hard spill the way Marvin Williams landed on him. Fortunately,he got a little headache right now, but it could be a lot worse. Glad we were comfortably in the lead. You putyourself in position, because anything could happen, and when it did, we were in control of the game.”
Andrew Bogut
On the team's play this season:
“It’s been a great start. One of our best starts in the last decade or so. I like what we are doing. We are startingto get an identity, especially defensively. We are known as an offensive team, but I think our defense keptanother team under 40-percent field goal percentage. We won the rebound battle by 17 against a very goodoffensive rebounding team. I like our effort, I think we are doing well.”
On having fun this season:
“We are a very young group. It’s a very loose group, a lot of joking around…It’s very enjoyable. I’m kind of the olddog now believe it or not at 29. It’s been a great start to the season.”
On the team's defense:
“I love our defense, that’s why I signed an extension. I think our team defense has been very, very good. Creditto our assistant coaches and to our coaches and credit to our players. We came in in September and werealready working on our team defense together. I think it shows out there. When we can keep teams under 40percent and keep our turnovers down there aren’t many teams that can play with us.”
Stephen Curry
On how he is feeling:
“I’ve got a pretty nasty headache. I hit the ground pretty hard, but I’ll be all right.”
“I went to reach for the ball, I made a move and kind of lost it a bit and I went to reach for it. Next thing I know I hit the ground pretty hard. I think Marvin (Williams) landed on me trying to reach for it to. Thankfully the guys sealed the deal when I left.”
On the team’s performance:
“We are playing well. We are sharing the basketball. Guys are taking open shots and it’s easy to keep thatshooting percentage up when you are taking open ones and the ball is moving. More importantly our defense issolid. We had a little trouble in the third quarter continuing that effort. To be able to come back and pushanother run up and continue to play the defense we have accustomed to is a good thing for us.”
Klay Thompson
On his play:
“I feel like I’m playing well so far, but I’ve got to give credit to my teammates. When I’ve got great scorers outthere it makes my job that much easier. I feel great out there. It’s my third year so things have slowed down alot more.”
Notes
- The initial diagosis is that Curry has a "headache" after getting his head smacked into the floor by Marvin Williams. But he looked fine cheering the Panthers game in the locker room.
What's next?
- Rematch time. These Grizzlies have had our number again and again. If we want to be a contender, we gotta beat this team at least once.
