For the beginning of this season, the Warriors starters, including whoever the odd man is out (Harrison Barnes) have been playing at their best. The bench... give or take. At full strength, our whole bench together is a really strong unit.
But with that said how long are we going to be able to keep such a bench? 4 Warriors are making either 11 Million or more this season, and there isn't one player under a contract this season making between 4 to 11 Million. Now question is, are we going to flip rookie contracts every season whenever players like Draymond Green or Festus Ezeli are free agents, or do we resign them for a higher salary in which we do not have the cap space for at the moment.
Cap space is also an issue, as Klay Thompson is due for an extension before any of our 4 big contracts expire, followed up with Harrison Barnes the following year (Lee is the only contract that expires that year). Now, expecting that we're not going to give away contracts that will have us peak to the top of the hard cap, one (or two) of our 'starting six' will have to be let go someway. If we try to keep both Klay and Harrison, we probably won't look to ship Curry, leaving Iguodala, Lee or Bogut to be traded for sooner expirings if needed. Now as Iggy and Bogut just got new contracts, we might not consider shipping them out. Leaving an assumption that David Lee could be given up sometime soon. I have some trade suggestions below for David Lee this season, in which I suggest that we trade him for a decent PF along with players who can provide great minutes off the bench.
David Lee for (add kent bazemore or any other cheap contract if needed):
