Should the Warriors trade Klay Thompson for Evan Turner?

Gotta love the trade deadline.

As much as I like Klay Thompson, I would do this trade. Let me plead my case on why.

As it stands, the Warriors need to build around Stephen Curry and David Lee if they want to be a better basketball team. Bogut compliments Lee but the question is does Klay Thompson Compliment Stephen Curry? Curry is a scorer who is the size of a point guard. He has point guard skills but what makes him special is his ability to score. Klay Thompson is a great shooter as well but unlike Curry, he needs somebody to set him up in order to be effective. In my opinion, to have a complimentary back court mate with Stephen Curry, A shooting guard must have good ball handling skills, the ability to penetrate the defense and, at the same time, the ability to guard his position effectively. From what I have seen, Evan Turner is a step towards a more ideal back court than Klay Thompson.

Just look at the past few games, for example. The Warriors have been getting killed from open 3s caused by players penetrating the defense and good ball movement. Imagine if Curry played in Houston along side James Harden, who is one of the best at getting to the rim. They would have shattered the record. Now I am not saying we should jump ship now that we have a 4 game losing streak, I am only using the Warriors as an example on how penetration greatly compliments shooters. Back to my point, Jarrett Jack is currently the only player who is able to do this. Without him, the team misses out on a lot of good looks( 4 game losing streak.. 3 games without jack..coincidence?). I am amazed at how skillful Curry is since he can also penetrate the defense at times, but the best shooter in the NBA should NOT have that responsibility. He needs to be set up so he can utilize his skills to its full potential. I don't think Klay should take on that responsibility in order to compliment Curry either because, like Curry, if he handles the ball it takes away from what made him special to begin with.

I feel the only reason why the 76ers are looking to trade Turner is because they are more committed to Jrue Holiday and look to build around him instead. They have a back court which consists of two ball handlers, Holiday being the more valued one, and it doesn't seem to be working out for them. The 76ers need offense and I am pretty sure they would love to have Klay Thompson paired up next to Holiday. I haven't been watching Turner exclusively, but I am quite familiar with his game and believe he excels on what we need. He will have plenty of spacing to do his work which will make him more effective. Also, Harrison Barnes will be taking more shots which I believe he would take full advantage.

Klay Thompson is a scorer. He Improved his defense and rebounding but is slightly above average in that aspect compared to other shooting guards at best. Although not as good as Curry, he is a great shooter. It is very fortunate we got him with the 11th pick but if we are looking to improve our team(every team should always have that mindset), I feel like we need to trade Thompson for Turner. I believe the Warriors needs a two guard with the attributes I listed above more than a 3 point specialist and if it is possible to land Evan Turner for Klay Thompson, I think the front office should do it.
