It is apparent that there is more than just a lack of execution that is wrong with the W's. The most obvious one is our lack of defense. My biggest issue with this is our rotation particularly pertaining to the rotation of our big men. Personally I am happy that Bogut is back and believe that once he is fully healthy He will be better than ever. But right now that is not the case. So now I am struggling to understand why in Zeus' butthole is Andris Biedrins is (typically) the # 2 big man. We have been down this road for the past 3 season. He is not the player he used to be, that's blatant. So why is he still being rotated?
What happened to Festus? He went from averaging 17 minutes/game to 7/game now. My number question is why? Sure he is young and will take some ill advised shots, and he can also look like a lost child when he holds the ball but he is still younger, bigger, stronger, and more athletic than Biedrins. All of these things make him a better player and defender than Biedrens. So why is he not getting the majority of the minutes when Bogut is on the bench or on a day off? Now its time to look at the numbers. In the 6 losses Biedrins has played 13 more minutes, scored 11 fewer points, has only 4 more rebounds, and 3 more blocks. So when you really break it down to per 48 minutes Festus for those games, averaged 14.6 more points, .35 more rebounds, 1 fewer block, 7.6 fewer fouls. And throughout the entire season Festus averages 5.5 more points, 2.7 fewer personal fouls, 2.4 more offensive rebounds, .9 fewer blocks, and .2 more steals.
Festus has the potential to be a solid big man and it is time we start giving him the minutes and developing him. There is Andris' last year on his contract and I am expecting the warriors not to resign him; so it is time to move on. We keep talking about the future and creating a team for the long run, well Biedrins isn't going to be around for the future so it is time he takes his spot back on the bench. And finally heaven forbid we have to watch Andris shoot a free throw. Nothing is more embarrassing as a fan than when your team is struggling to watch your big man throw a free throw off the backboard like he is trying to smash a bug. It hurts to watch and I am getting annoyed of having to listen to my buddies who are lakers and clippers fans mock us for it.
This is just my opinion, I used to be a big Biedrins fan but even if we were on a 7 game winning streak I would still be asking these questions, because we can all agree Andris isn't the Andris of old.
