Warriors vs. Bulls: Postgame Interviews - 3/15/13 by Warriors
Mark Jackson
On tonight's game:
“Got outworked. We talked about it, we know that basketball team and they beat us in Chicago by outworking us and by being the more physical team. If we matched their intensity and if we matched their physicality, we felt like we could have won the ballgame. Right off the opening tip – we just didn’t. Loose balls, rebounds, screens, moving without the basketball – any way you want to measure playing with force, we failed tonight.”
On the Bulls' Defense:
“We are going to score the basketball, it’s a make or miss league. Tonight, we didn’t make shots. That is not why we lost. We lost because we were outworked. They were the more physical basketball team, chased down long rebounds and chased down loose basketballs. They were active and we were bad.”
On if there's an explanation for tonight's game:
“Every team in this league it happens to. Not just this year, but in the history of the league. It’s not an excuse, it’s what playing and coaching is all about. Watched the film, talk about it, look to make the adjustments and attempt to get better. We were bad and we own the fact that we were bad. We got outplayed in our own building. We have to get over this one and look forward to going to Houston.”
On being close in the first half:
“We were bad and getting away with it. There was a point during a timeout that we were down seven and we were thrilled to be there. We had no business being there. We just did not play well. We did not meet their intensity and that is the disappointing part of it because the fact of the matter is, we are not going to win ball games if we don’t do that.”
Jarrett Jack
On the loss:
"Very unacceptable. We know they play hard each and every time. We know that when you play a team like them you have to match it, or play above it. For us it’s just an embarrassment, from the jump ball all the way to the last play they outplayed us. It’s an embarrassment for us, our organization from our coaching staff to our fans in the stands that support us nonstop. We have a chance to come back on Sunday but we can’t overlook this kind of effort."
On the upcoming road trip:
"Huge difference. You have a chance to protect your home court and make a push as far as playoffs are concerned. We have to understand what’s at stake here. We have to come out like a desperate basketball team that has a goal that everyone’s all in about. Talk is one thing but your effort is going to show how much you want to be about it. That’s what we have to show and be about the rest of this season."
Carl Landry
On moving on from the loss:
"We have to. We have to look past it the best we can, and that’s the beautiful thing about the NBA. Houston is a team that came here and beat us, and we lost down there in Houston a couple weeks before that, so we have to be ready to go. That’s the thing: they’re fighting for a playoff spot as well."
On knowing what to expect from the Rockets:
"Yeah, but at the end of the day it’s about us. I think when we lose, sometimes we beat ourselves. We’re a good enough basketball team where we don’t have to worry about other teams as much as we worry about ourselves."

(the next morning)
MSteinmetzCSN: Mark Jackson is a player's coach. Very evident today, giving team day off after brutal loss. Thibodeau didn't go
the same route after the Bulls' 42-point loss to Sacramento on Wednesday. Instead of an off-day, which the Bulls usually would have had on the road, Thibodeau had his squad practicing for 75 minutes, which included a 15-minute meeting on the court and then hour-long workout. After the loss to the Kings, Thibodeau said "I have to drive them harder. I have to get that intensity up. And I will. Trust me on that." The Bulls were staying in San Francisco on Thursday but the team bussed to Oracle for workout, rather than practicing at one of the clubs in city, which most teams do. Apparently, Thibodeau wanted to make sure it felt like a business-like practice the day after that loss. Mark Jackson, on the other hand, didn't have his 37-30 team practicing after their 113-95 belly-flop to the Bulls on Saturday. Rather than practicing before flying to Houston (for a huge matchup against the Rockets on Sunday), which the team usually does in such an instance, Jackson decided to give the team off. Jackson has maintained from the day he took the Warriors' coaching job that the NBA is a player's league. And he obviously believes it.
Notes
- Apparently, Jeremy Tyler is back with the SCWarriors. Take a look at the transactions list, March 13: NBA D-League 2012-13 Transactions
- But on the other hand, he was DEACTIVATED on the same day. Anyone know what's going on?
What's next?
- And so, the homestand ends on a total dud, with a 4-3 record. Now we have a short road trip, and look who's first - the Rockets, whom we cannot beat this season. We gotta bring our A game and beat them to stay ahead of them and keep the 6th spot.
