Warriors vs. Wizards: Postgame Interviews (3/23/13) by Warriors
Mark Jackson
On his reaction when Stephen Curry went down:
“I wanted to fly and go to church immediately. My reaction was making sure he was alright … Now it’s just about Steph being fine. No panic.”
On if he saw the replay on the jumbotron:
“No, it was just more about making sure Steph was fine. I wasn’t concerned with the replay or anything, I just wanted to make sure he was fine and walking it off. I was trying to tell my guys we were going to foul right away no matter the situation was, get him out the game. He did again, as usual, sell to me he was ready to go back in. I got the stare down and the towel thrown on the floor as I told him that was it. We’re going to be smart, that’s why Jarrett Jack is here. We’re going to live to fight another day. He’s going to get treatment, we’ll act accordingly.”
On Curry:
“He’s having an incredible year. Night in and night out he’s the best player on the floor and playing with confidence. It’s special to see because when you play with players like that it elevates everyone else and makes them believe we can win because we’ve got the baddest dude on the floor.”
On containing John Wall:
“He’s a heck of a basketball player. I thought Klay (Thompson) did a heck of a job early, our defense behind him did a heck of a job, he got it going a little bit in the third, and then the night was over for him. He’s a heck of a basketball player and I felt we did a good job of containing him tonight.”
Stephen Curry
On how he feels:
“I’m fine. Don’t worry about my ankle, I’ll get through it like I usually do. I just have to get my treatment and get ready for Monday.”
On if he'll push himself to play Monday:
“You have to be smart at this point of the season. Fighting through something when you’re not ready, when you have bigger things, coming down the stretch in this part of the season you have to be smart. We know the Lakers are coming in and they’re right behind us and need that game. I’m going to try as best as I can to make sure I’m ready.”
On the play where he went down:
“I know he was going for the foul and I was trying to wrap behind the back around him. I was off balance trying to shift around him and my momentum was going the same way he was trying to foul, so it was a bang-bang play. It’s just unfortunate that’s how it ended, but I’m not worried about it.”
Klay Thompson
On Stephen Curry:
“I know Stephen [Curry] will be fine. He’s a tough guy. He has tweaked his ankle before so he might take the next game off, but I don’t know. I know he’ll get healthy and I’m just going to hope for the best for him.”
On the upcoming game against the Lakers:
“We’ve all got to play more collectively and be aggressive. We’ve got to share the ball and be unselfish. We can’t do it individually. Stephen is one of our leaders, we’ve won without him before, but it’s not easy to replace Stephen Curry.”
On enjoying tonight's win:
“I still feel great. It’s real unfortunate that Stephen went down like that. I hope the best for him. I know he’s real dedicated to recovering, so I know he’ll be back soon. We’ve got to be happy with the win and enjoy it. It puts us in better position for playoff seeding.”
David Lee
On his reaction to seeing Stephen Curry go down:
“First thing I just had to walk over to him and make sure he’s OK. He’s been playing unbelievable ball, he’s been carrying us sometimes offensively, he’s one of our leaders. That’s my little bro, I had to make sure he was OK.”
On getting ahead in the first half:
“The first game back from a road trip is kind of a trap game. Give Washington credit there, they play a full 48 minutes. You saw that from the Lakers game last night. We just tried to come out here and set the tone energy wise, take care of the defensive glass, take care of getting stops, and Steph provided some great offense.”

Notes
- This is Curry's 13th ankle sprain in the past 3 seasons, 5th this season:
1 - Preseason, someone double knocked into Curry’s foot.
2 - @Mavs, He stayed in, played it off, got us the win.
3 - Shootaround before the Heat game.
4 - @Raptors, driving into the paint.
5 - Tonight, Cartier Martin tried to stop him on a fast break.
What's next?
- Homestand 1-0. We don't know if Curry will play on Monday against the Lakers. But one way or another, Beat LA! The Lakers just lost to these Wizards, and if they have any pride, they'll be mad and looking for someone to beat up on, like us.
