I think that playing with the high level of competition has value, however I think that the usa team practices may not offer the opportunity for Barnes and Thompson to improve in the ways I think are required for them to be high level players (for both, dribbling, for Barnes, aggression). Obviously Barnes and Thompson are both able to practice outside of this camp, and playing with high level players could prompt higher levels of defense, and offensive awareness. Finishing at the rim was a struggle for thompson, and these practices may offer the best situation for game speed experience. This was less to criticize their decision to join the USA select team, a very promising opportunity, than to point out where Barnes and Thompson need to improve. I think they lack some basic skills better developed in an environment focusing on the development of those skills, while a practice situation such as this is usefuil in 'putting it all together'. What improvements do you expect from Barnes and Thompson for next season?
