On the game:
“Well it’s certainly a tough loss. I’m a little disappointed we didn’t finish this road trip up the right way. Give Brooklyn credit, a great job by them. We will not lose sight of the fact that we were 6-1 on this road trip. Truth be told none of us knew who actually held the record prior to us trying to chase it down. The history that we’re chasing after is bigger than a seven-game road trip record for wins. You move ahead. You make the proper corrections. We look forward to taking care of what we didn’t take care of tonight. We felt like we got some good looks, we just didn’t knock them down. It was a tough loss. Our bench last game was very good. I thought tonight they just didn’t do the job. We established a rhythm. I thought going to the bench affected the game. It happens. They are going to get plenty of opportunities going forward. It was just a tough night overall for us. Give Brooklyn credit.”
On the game:
“Our visions were set on finishing out the road trip with a win and what that meant. It’s frustrating that we couldn’t get that done, but it’s just one loss. We just have to regroup, get some rest and get ready for Friday. They got into a rhythm, hit some shots, we didn’t finish out the quarters well, letting them hit a couple of late threes, and you do that you just get the energy in the building going and they start feeling good and come out of the break with more fire.”
On the team being low on energy because of the road trip:
“It’s a long road trip, but we can’t let that be an excuse for how the game ended, so we have to find a way to win and there were a couple of key turnovers at the end of the game, and they had about three or four possessions in the fourth quarter where we made them take tough shots, but we just couldn’t get the rebound.”
On what the winning streak meant:
“Gaining ground in the West. The biggest thing is we have to win road games and you have to stay above water when you are away from home, so we definitely did that. Obviously all the attention was on the streak and trying to break the record for our franchise that hasn’t been in that position in a long time, that’s a big deal so it is frustrating right now, but now, like I said, tomorrow, before Friday we can look at the big picture of our road trip and realize we did some good stuff and put ourselves in position to capitalize on a home-heavy schedule for the next couple of days.”
On the game:
“I don’t think we executed offensively as well as we wanted to. Defensively, I don’t think it was any huge breakdowns. I think they hit some tough shots, and then of course they finished the game by hitting a bunch of free throws, so it was a frustrating way to end the streak, but overall a 6-1 road trip is very positive.”
- Sigh, missed it by that much.
- The next game on Friday is another one of those "should wins" against another crappy Eastern Conference team. But as they say, that first home game after a long road trip feels like a road trip. Then there's the emotional void of not getting the perfect road trip AND breaking the 10 game win streak. On top of that, the Warriors know they have 4 days off after the next game. I foresee a sloppy game coming up.
