Warriors split about trading Klay Thompson for Kevin Love

251

After it appeared that the Warriors were prepared to part with Thompson in a deal to land Minnesota's Love, sources told ESPN.com that Hall of Fame consultant Jerry West and new Warriors coach Steve Kerr have voiced opposition to surrendering both Thompson and a future first-round pick to the Timberwolves along with former All-Star forward David Lee for Love and Wolves guard Kevin Martin.

Lakers in talks to acquire Klay Thompson as part of Kevin Love deal

67

The Lakers have been in discussions to acquire Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson for the seventh pick in next week’s draft, The Times has learned. The deal would be part of a larger three-way trade that sends Minnesota All-Star power forward Kevin Love to the Warriors. The Lakers are interested but the deal has been put on hold because of a difference in opinion within the Warriors’ organization whether or not to keep Thompson while trying to obtain Love.

Warriors GM Myers won't comment on Kevin Love

6

Warriors general manager Bob Myers won't comment on specific trade rumors. But while there is chatter regarding a possible deal for star Minnesota forward Kevin Love, he did speak to the chances of a big trade. "I think probably right now unlikely. It's the best I can do for you. But I will say this: If you asked me last year at this time would we be in a situation to grab an (Andre) Iguodala, I would have said the same thing. "Right now, I think it's unlikely. Right now, today."

We know they can get a deal done featuring Klay Thompson, but what kind of deal?

Warriors Shopping Harrison Barnes For Pick

64

The Warriors are dangling Harrison Barnes in trade talks as they attempt to trade for a first-round pick in this year’s draft, as Chad Ford of ESPN.com reports in an Insider-only piece. It’s unclear whether the conversations extend beyond their negotiations with the Timberwolves toward a Kevin Love deal, but it appears Warriors GM Bob Myers and company place a high value on acquiring a first-rounder to replace the one they traded to Utah last year. Golden State is without a pick in either round on Thursday.

Klay's father: 'I'm going to have to talk him down' if traded

14

Don't get me wrong, I'm just as excited as the next Warriors fan about the possibility of acquiring Kevin Love this summer. However, this article really depressed me. I've grown to really like Klay Thompson and, if he is traded, he definitely will be missed. He's become a big part of the team identity and culture as one of the two Splashbrothers and I would just feel bad letting him go. That being said, I would still 100% love to get Love in the rumored deal involving Klay.

Blatt to the Warriors?

Several tweets appear to say the same thing: Blatt has been advised, by those close to him, to take the Warriors gig over the Cavs head coaching job.

Kerr speaks with Bogut about "triangle-facilitator type of role"

7

Two different stories, one visit.

"He actually brought an iPad along to lunch and showed me actually clips of Luc Longley playing that similar type role, triangle-facilitator type of role and wanted me to be a bit more aggressive offensively and run through me a little more, so that’s always good to hear," Bogut told the station.

Actual plays!!

Then there's this other link (pretty cool embedded link within as well - Bogut on Aussie radio)

"I’ve kind of taken a backseat offensively the last couple years, and that’s not a bad thing because we do have two of the best shooters in the league that are great scorers," Bogut said, "So I’d like to get that back. I think I can do a little more offensively, but if my team needs me to play D and rebound, I’ll do that."

Bottom line for me?

I don't think Bogut ever had a ton of love for Jackson, but more importantly I think that Bogut has become comfortable enough with his role as primary defensive anchor to begin to try and get back some of his offensive game. Ever since Nellie ball, I've had an excruciating yearning for excellent two-way players. Makes me happy to see this point of emphasis from Bogut!
