Game Thread #63: Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets (Somebody's Got to Win)
The Rockets have lost 6 in a row. The Warriors have lost 7 in a row. Who has the greater will to lose? Ok, that's not fair. Neither team is trying to lose, and at least one of the two teams certainly doesn't benefit from losing. And this is an interesting development:
| MSteinmetzCSN According to Warriors, neither Nate Robinson nor Dorell Wright will play tonight. Bogut, Curry, Lee, Biedrins, Wright, Robinson all out. 4/21/12 6:58 PM |
So not a single starter from opening day is suiting up tonight. (Side note: I've always thought that was a strange expression. After all, they actually *will* be in suits.) The rooks are gonna get some run tonight. Hopefully their young legs can handle it.
TV: Probably somewhere.
Radio: Seriously?

Game Thread #62: Golden State Warriors @ Dallas Mavericks - We can eat our tank and have it too
Mmm... chocolate.
When the Warriors players got into their locker room to get ready to dress and face the Mavericks this afternoon, the players got a nice little surprise. Next to their jersey and shoes and socks and stuff, they found the above cupcake.
Game Thread #61: Golden State Warriors vs LA Lakers - Tank watch day, and we're not getting any help.
"Hey boy, see any help coming for our tank?" "Whimper."
Today, the other five teams that we're competing with in the tank race all play tonight.
Cavaliers? Nope.
Pistons? Nope.
Nets? Nope.
Raptors? Nope.
Kings? We'll see, but probably not against the Spurs.
As for the Warriors, we better lose tonight so we can stay in the race. Starting 4 rookies (Jenkins, Klay, Gladness, Tyler) + DWright should help. This should also help:

Game Thread #60: Golden State Warriors vs San Antonio Spurs - Another day of basketball, another day in jail.
Including this game, there are 7 games left to go. As Warriors fans, we are stuck in the jail cell of mediocrity, counting the number of games left until the season is over, looking for losses to boost our lottery luck, cringing when our team plays hard and threatens to win, hoping that we will be given probation next season from our sentence of going nowhere.
But guess what? Tonight, we break out of jail. Tonight, we break out of jail early. Tonight is the first night of... our freeeeedom!!!
...OK, obviously not. Tonight, we continue to sit in jail. Tonight we continue to ridicule made baskets, good plays, and players who are on fire, and we continue to cheer clanks, turnovers, and airballs. Tonight, we pick up a piece of chalk and mark on our walls that another game will go by for this season.

Game Thread #57: Golden State Warriors @ Portland Trail Blazers
Going for their second loss, "The Tank" continues! Golden State takes on Portland after a terrible defeat against Denver a few days ago. How will the Dubs respond on national tv? Tip off just minutes away!
Game Thread #56: Golden State Warriors @ Denver Nuggets Let's Do This! (Seriously)
We've won the first two games of the series against Denver this season...so we're due...for a loss, right? One can hope, anyway.
All snarky tank humor aside, I've pretty much given up hope on the tank. Even if we "pass" Detroit, at this point it's looking less and less likely that we'll end up in anything higher than the 8th spot.
So now I'll be watching the games simply hoping to see our young guys battle and improve. Maybe good karma will give us a better shot of jumping into the top 3 of the lottery.

Game Thread #54: Golden State Warriors @ Utah Jazz
"Tanking" seems to be a majority favor amongst Warriors fans these days. Don't get me wrong, I am not against it, just getting used to the chatter. For example, when the Warriors beat the Timberwolves last Wednesday it was the first time I saw people on Facebook and twitter post comments like "Dangit! I can't believe our Warriors won! Argh! We shouldn't have lost!" I was at Chevron gas station yesterday and overheard a customer tell the cashier "Yea, the Warriors won last night, I wanted them to lose so bad!" It's become the norm in the Bay Area... Tanking never sounded so good!
So, since winning would be pointless and the chance of getting a high draft pick seems likely, I'm not even going to hype up a possible Warriors victory. Let's blow it and take a loss! With a better understanding on what "tanking" is, I guess you can say I'm hopping on the tank and we're headed to Utah to face the Jazz! The thing is, Utah is having their share of woes with a losing streak of their own. They still have a shot at the 8th spot and they're fighting for it! Now for us Dubs fans, we'll take the loss!
Game Thread #53: Golden State Warriors at Minnesota Timberwolves — The Late Season Watch List
Golden State Warriors (20-32) at Minnesota Timberwolves (25-30)

With the current state of the Warriors, Dubs fans are coping in a variety of ways. Many have turned the standings upside down as they actively root for the Warriors to lose in hopes of holding on to their first round draft pick, while others have let hoops apathy take hold and have begun to look elsewhere for their nightly entertainment. Now I must admit that I have been lending my support to the Pistons, Nets and Kings when I can catch them on League Pass, but I'm still not entirely comfortable actively rooting for the loss while my Dubs push hard against teams like the Lakers and Grizzlies. So, instead of pulling for the other team I've made myself a little list of things to look out for as the season goes on. There is still plenty to learn about this team as they close out the season. Jump to see a few of the things I'll be keeping an eye on.

Since we're on the topic of "tanking" the season for Golden State, I'm pretty much done with the Warriors. I'm not completely giving up on my team, I'm simply done with the season. I'm not going to end my duties here at GSoM. I've got plenty of previews/recaps to do and some pretty fun "tanking" related Warriors designs on top of that!
Hello Memphis, it's good to be back. You laughed and ridiculed us in our last meeting at home. We're actually short handed again so the trash talking and jokes might be taken further. Maybe our young guys will step it up for a come from behind victory? Oh why, bother! We're in tanking mode! It's one of those nights where I won't mind taking another loss!
