The Santa Cruz Warriors remained undefeated at home with a 113-101 win against the Springfield Armor at Kaiser Permanente Arena. I had media access for the game once again and the following are my notes from the experience, including whether the Warriors might assign Andrew Bogut to Santa Cruz once he's ready to play in game situations, Jeremy Tyler's response to some physical play by Springfield, and Kent Bazemore talking about playing for a contract. Jeremy Tyler has been recalled to the Golden State Warriors after contributing to the Santa Cruz Warriors' 95-79 win against the Reno Bighorns yesterday, completing a road sweep to open the season. Ultimately, it could probably be said that Tyler's debut in a Santa Cruz Warriors uniform produced mixed results.

And there it is! Santa Cruz Warriors 101 - Reno Bighorns 95! instagr.am/p/SrqJtMJv6v/
— Santa Cruz Warriors (@DLeagueWarriors) December 1, 2012
The Santa Cruz Warriors opened their inaugural regular season tonight with a 101-95 win over the Reno Bighorns.
And as should probably be expected, Golden State assignee Kent Bazemore was rather dominant in his D-League debut: he scored a game-high 27 points in just over 33 minutes along with nine rebounds and five steals.Taylor Griffin finished with a double-double, recording 12 points and 10 rebounds, including a big 3-pointer down the stretch. Mickell Gladness had a more modest line with three points and five rebounds in about 19 minutes.
But the story here is probably Bazemore; the question that springs to mind after watching his performance is what exactly do the Warriors hope he will gain from this experience?
For much of this first outing, Bazemore was simply toying with his opponents, proving what we should probably assume given that he was assigned to the D-League from a NBA roster: he was by far the best talent on the floor.
Maybe his four turnovers suggest an area for improvement, but as the first day with a new team - even if they were running sets that Golden State fans would find familiar - it's hard to even read too much into that.

The Golden State Warriors brought former Syracuse big man Rick Jackson into training camp this year knowing that he wasn't ready to contribute at any level, NBA or D-League. Even though that chapter in Jackson's life is now complete, the story itself speaks to the value of the franchise owning the Santa Cruz Warriors.
