Final Preview & Game Thread: Golden State Warriors Vs. San Antonio Spurs

It's been a while since Golden State Warriors fans have had a meaningful game in April worth paying attention to, but tonight's game against the San Antonio Spurs is about the closest thing to "meaningful" we've seen in a few years.

With a tank loss, the Warriors would be tied for the seventh-worst record in the league, which would broken by a league drawing to determine their chances of keeping the lottery pick they owe the Utah Jazz from the Marcus Williams trade. With a win, it becomes far more likely that they would finish the season in 8th place at 24-42, which would leave them with significantly diminished chances to keep their lottery pick.

Marcus Thompson II of the Bay Area News Group has already broken down what's at stake in tonight's game regarding the 2012 NBA Draft Lottery.

Game Thread #65: New Orleans Hornets @ Golden State Warriors - Perhaps the most important game of the year (tank!)

Wait, the Warriors (23-41) WON this past Sunday at Minnesota? WTF?! That's it, I'm tanking this preview, starting with the mandatory picture. Fire Mark Jackson, btw.

Welp, the Dubs still have a chance to finish in the bottom seven. They absolutely cannot win tonight vs the Hornets (20-44).

TANKFULLY, New Jersey plays Toronto this Thursday to close out the season, so one of those teams has to finish with 23 wins, tying the Warriors assuming the Warriors lose the last two games. The Warriors have lost both head-to-heads vs NJN and the one vs TOR. Okay, don't fire Mark Jackson.

To borrow from Evanz...

GameThread #64: Golden State Warriors @ Minnesota Timberwolves- Septic [fill in blank]!

It would be fantastic to see a double-double from young Dub Jeremy Tyler. A 30 point effort from Klay Thompson would be dandy. Mikki Moore putting up a better stat line than Anthony Randolph would be hilarious. An actual drawn up play from head "coach" Mark Jackson would be shockingly welcome.

A win?

Well I'll let you fill in the blank from the title.

Prediction: Warriors by -1

Game Thread #63: Golden State Warriors at Houston Rockets (Somebody's Got to Win)

The Rockets have lost 6 in a row. The Warriors have lost 7 in a row. Who has the greater will to lose? Ok, that's not fair. Neither team is trying to lose, and at least one of the two teams certainly doesn't benefit from losing. And this is an interesting development:

According to Warriors, neither Nate Robinson nor Dorell Wright will play tonight. Bogut, Curry, Lee, Biedrins, Wright, Robinson all out.
4/21/12 6:58 PM

So not a single starter from opening day is suiting up tonight. (Side note: I've always thought that was a strange expression. After all, they actually *will* be in suits.) The rooks are gonna get some run tonight. Hopefully their young legs can handle it.

TV: Probably somewhere.

Radio: Seriously?

Game Thread #62: Golden State Warriors @ Dallas Mavericks - We can eat our tank and have it too

Mmm... chocolate.

When the Warriors players got into their locker room to get ready to dress and face the Mavericks this afternoon, the players got a nice little surprise. Next to their jersey and shoes and socks and stuff, they found the above cupcake.

Game Thread #61: Golden State Warriors vs LA Lakers - Tank watch day, and we're not getting any help.

"Hey boy, see any help coming for our tank?" "Whimper."

via i.dailymail.co.uk

Today, the other five teams that we're competing with in the tank race all play tonight.

Cavaliers? Nope.
Pistons? Nope.
Nets? Nope.
Raptors? Nope.
Kings? We'll see, but probably not against the Spurs.

As for the Warriors, we better lose tonight so we can stay in the race. Starting 4 rookies (Jenkins, Klay, Gladness, Tyler) + DWright should help. This should also help:

Game Thread #60: Golden State Warriors vs San Antonio Spurs - Another day of basketball, another day in jail.

86031-silhouetted-prisoner-counting-his-days-in-jail-with-chalk-on-the-wall-poster-art-print_medium

Including this game, there are 7 games left to go. As Warriors fans, we are stuck in the jail cell of mediocrity, counting the number of games left until the season is over, looking for losses to boost our lottery luck, cringing when our team plays hard and threatens to win, hoping that we will be given probation next season from our sentence of going nowhere.

But guess what? Tonight, we break out of jail. Tonight, we break out of jail early. Tonight is the first night of... our freeeeedom!!!

...

OK, obviously not. Tonight, we continue to sit in jail. Tonight we continue to ridicule made baskets, good plays, and players who are on fire, and we continue to cheer clanks, turnovers, and airballs. Tonight, we pick up a piece of chalk and mark on our walls that another game will go by for this season.

Game Thread #58: Dallas Mavericks @ Golden State Warriors: The Shark Tank Featuring Mark Cuban

Shark Tank starring Mark Cuban from Wiredset on Vimeo.

Dallas Mavericks (32-26) at Golden State Warriors (22-35)

Tipoff: 7:30PM PDT

TV: TNT | Radio: KNBR 680

Blog Buddy: Mavs Moneyball

Have you guys seen the TV show Shark Tank? Helluva show! Speaking of "tank"... There is absolutely no way the Warriors win tonight. The Mavs are on the brink of missing the playoffs; their backs are against the wall. I'm looking forward to hearing Mark Jackson's post-game comments on this one. Last game, he said:

"That may be an excuse for other teams, but for us that's unacceptable," said coach Mark Jackson about his absences. "The last two games we haven't been ourselves."

LMAO! Another interesting fact:

Rookies Charles Jenkins, Klay Thompson and Jeremy Tyler have started 10-straight games, making them the first trio of rookies to start in at least five consecutive contests for the Warriors since Joe Barry Carroll, Lorenzo Romar and Larry Smith did so in March of 1981.

Finally, for the latest and greatest on the Lamar Odom saga, among other pressing issues in Dallas, check out our blog buddy, Mavs Moneyball. Great read.
