UPDATE (4:03pm): Longtime GSoMer Rich Twu of Dream League fame (represent!) won with the auction equivalent of a sweet last second jumper. Congrats! We'll be sending $200 to the Oakland Parks & Recreation department  thanks to Rich.

As you all know opening night against the Houston Rockets is GSoM Night 7 [order tickets online] . And as you all know we'll be rocking the flyest practice jerseys ever to grace the hardwood. We'll also be swishing our free throws like Anthony Morrow from downtown.

While Allen Iverson talks about PRACTICE?!, we talk about PRACTICE JERSEYS! around these parts.

This Oakland A's [Athletics Nation] season has not exactly gone according to Billy Beane's master plan. As part of my new cushy GSoM office job I'm in charge of dealin'. Yes, I know that sounds a little shady given that I'm a veteran resident of EPA, but all that means is I'm in charge of holding the contests for the GSoM season tickets.

For the second ticket contest of 08-09 (did you blink and miss the first one?) we're giving away 2 lowerbowl tickets (face value $85 each) to watch the Warriors take on Lietuvos Rytas in the most highly anticipated Warriors preseason game since they served that Turkish beerball team pre-We Believe. I honestly can't give you a good scouting report on this Euro hoops squad, but I can tell you that their dance team's got nothing on the supa-fly Warrior Girls...

There's something about the next few days in Dubs land that makes you Reminisce like Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth. Thursday night in Oakland Chris Webber will be starting for your Golden State Warriors as coached by Don Nelson and nationally broadcast on TNT. It's like it's 1994 again. That was not only a great year for Hip Hop, it was a great year (well the first half) for the Warriors.

Next Monday night is the icing on this throwback Betty Crocker cake with the Washington Warriors including former Warrior greats Antawn "Scoop Shot" Jamison and Gilbert "#0" Arenas (in spirit) coming to town. Another twist is that way back in 1994 the Warriors traded Chris Webber for Tom Gugliotta and draft picks to... yup, you guessed it. The then named Washington Bullets. Funny how things just fall into place sometimes.

First and foremost, this was one of the hardest choices we at GSoM have ever had to make (second to who's house we should watch the game at).  Thank you for the creative, hilarious, and carefully thought out responses to our GSoM 'You Be the DJ' Ticket Giveaway Contest! ; we definitely learned a lot reading the responses and have expanded our musical archive thanks to your work!  It definitely wasn't easy, but we were able to agree on a winner, who will receive a pair of tickets to the Warrior-Spurs game (section 109 next to the "make your free throw, please" guy).  There were many other great responses, so we wanted to send a thanks for the effort.  The runner-ups will receive a GSoM pin!

After much deliberation the highly esteemed panel of judges consisting of DJ Fuzzy Logic, Fantasy Junkie, Hash, R Dizzle, Tony.psd, Yaobuttaming, and myself, all of the GSoM Crew fame, have cast in our votes for the GSoM Warriors New Year's Resolutions contest. It wasn't easy to pick the very best 2008 New Year's Resolutions from all the many golden entries we received, but this is why they pay us the big bucks (I wish!).
