This is a forward thinking left coast hoops community, but to be honest we've been a little behind the times with this site's current branding. As you know the Golden State Warriors logo and color-way are no longer the navy blue, orange, and yellow theme this site uses. We will be updating both the color-way to match the new lighter blue and brighter yellow and of course the... LOGO. The unveiling will either be the 1st day of 2012 or the first GSoM Night this season.

For the nearly 6 years of Golden State of Mind's existence there has been only one logo with two tweaks, so this isn't something trivial.

We're looking for something that we can all rally around that makes us feel unstoppable even when our favorite hoops squad is surrendering yet another career night to a recent D-League call-up, former draft bust, or 12th man.

These samples are long over due and it's time to share it with our readers. For months we've gone back and fourth sharing ideas on branding Golden State of Mind as it's own identity and not using elements our favorite basketball team and many others are using. We've considered abandoning the use of the Bay Bridge, the California state as a silhouette and basketball players for GSoM's logo because it's already been done many times over. At the same time, if it looks good on the website, I want to make sure it transfers well into other marketing material like single color shirts or posters.

From now until the All-Star game, I'll be doing my part illustrating "Monta propoganda" signs and bringing them to games. The man deserves it! 

FYI, the inspiration behind "Operation: All-Star" was taken from M.F. Doom's classic debut album "Operation Dooms Day" Enjoy!

Happy New Year everyone! I was listening to Run DMC's "King of Rock" album a few days ago and their cover art had me wanting to do a playful parody of our team. I miss doing those fun concepts with our Warriors team. It's something that reminded me of when I first started drawing for GSoM. All my ideas were fun and comedic at times. With much of my attention focusing back to GSoM for 2011, you'll definitely be seeing more of that this year. As for this parody, it's kind of early for me to start drawing a "Run" Curry, Ellis and Lee drawing since they've all had their share of injuries. The chemistry just isn't 100% yet. This right here is a teaser... (minus David Lee)

My goal this season is to draw our entire Golden State roster. I've received a handful of e-mails, tweets, direct messages, and even 1 MySpace message from the GSoM community on who to draw next. Jeremy Lin was the 4th guy on my list, so here goes. Enjoy!

I'll be sporting this as a huge sign during the opening night shoot around, letting fans know Keith was a "Smart" choice. Go Warriors!

As for the art treatment, how many of you remember "Obey Nellie?" 

It may not be the most exciting pic of Golden State Warriors forward David Lee, but in order to get the visuals I needed for a new sign design, I needed to draw his upper body and face. After I finished his jersey, I decided to complete the drawing by including his shoes, the background, and of course, the new logo. We're less than 5 days away from GSoM Night 9 and I couldn't be more excited. Heck, I even requested the day off! See you guys opening night!

It feels good drawing again for GSoM! I can't believe this is going to be my 4th season drawing our beloved Warriors. This just  feels right. There was a time when my hobby of drawing just became work since I was doing too much outside of GSoM. It frustrated me to the point that the fun suddenly disappeared. The way I see it, drawing the Warriors makes me feel great!

This is an exciting time for Warrior fans. We've got new owners, a new team logo, new jerseys and some new faces in our roster. Who could ask for anything more? Maybe Carmelo Anthony?
