Golden State of Mind... GTA style!

Gtom400_medium

It seems like forever since I've posted anything new on GSoM and I apologize for that. One thing I'm happy to share with the world is that I've been on a diet for 9 weeks now and have dropped 21 pounds. I've been spending a lot of my drawing time on working out (2 hours a day), cooking healthy food and just staying active. I've given up a lot for this new lifestyle and it's made me a better person! On with the added fun stuff...

The Golden State Beard

Inspired by the good folks over at Fear the Beard!

What if we were to flip the script on believing this season and simply... grow a beard! I know it's a far fetched idea but a lot of people are making that extra effort during our playoff run. Even the fake beards are acceptable to rock in public! (Kids and ladies too!) Just the thought of seeing a sea of yellow We Believe T-Shirts accompanied with a thick beard (grown, strapped on or cut-out) is history in the making. If the players of Golden State went the next step and grew beards that would be an incredible site to see. Just imagine... actually, let me draw it out so we can all see the possibilities!

Golden State Gallery

Oh Austin... shall we shag before or after the game?

I'm down to my last 4 games of the season! (including GSoM Night 4!) Renewal for next year's season and this years playoffs are just too much for me to commit to. (My seats literally doubled in price... the reality of blowing up!) With that in mind, I want to treat the last few great games of the season as if they were my last with an all out expoit in sign designs. During the Memphis, Houston, LA Lakers and Clippers game it's going to be nothing but new and fun signs for the fans of Golden State.

Movie related Warrior themes have been a big hit with fans at the Oracle Arena and throughout the internet. I've grown to enjoy placing our loved players in comedic spoofs that have even brought smiles to the organization and its players. That's what it's been all about for me and my sign designs at games. The appreciation through laughter and smile have been a big factor in why I draw what I draw. I've had some pretty stressful moments in my life that bring out the worst in me, but drawing has been an escape from reality for me to forget about the stress, the drama and anything else negative. So make a move after the jump and let me break down my new drawings to you!

Take your pick: GSoM wallpaper

4 new desktop wallpapers only available at GSoM. (Monitor not included)

Atma and I thought about this a long time ago. Why did it take so long to produce? I have no idea. I guess I just got caught up doing so many things at the same time, I didn't realize how easy it was to format my work into wallpaper pieces for the Golden State of Mind masses. You've seen my work all over GSoM and at Dubz games, now sport them on your desktop! The monitor settings are set at 1920x1200 for all of you wide screen people out there. The first 4 exclusives are personal favorites with more to follow. Let's set it off with everyone's favorite "Back to the Future" wallpaper featuring C-Webb and Nellie. There's also the "Rambo" Belinelli wallpaper and for the ladies... Monta's classic "They Said..." art. Speaking of classic, the "Throwback GSoM" logo is available for your desktop too.

Get your wallpaper after the jump! Exclusively from Tony.psd and GSoM!

GSoM Blockbusters

Make it a Blockbuster Night and recreate Hollywood moments with Dub players past and present!

Night after night we get to witness the finest "Pick n' Roll" in the NBA and with this Sunday's return of Mike Dunleavy and Troy Murphy I decided to put together these 3 little pieces for the occasion. Call em' "Starbuck Sessions" or "Killin' time... the Wifey's on her way home" quickies. When I see something on the net, I take a stab at trying to remix it and see what I can get away with. Sometimes, these .psd pieces (minus the illustrated Top Gun) can run about 20-30 minutes tops. When I can't find hi-res pics to make em' into signs, I make em' anyways and post em' on the web. Thanks to GSoM I have more time and a place where I can rock these parodies. Lets break em' down after the jump...

Double Dose... Jackson and Pietrus get Animated with Tony.psd

Note to self: Draw more Stephen Jackson! After going through my database, I just realized I only have 1 drawing of him! That needs to change. It's only fitting to set off a drawing session with the Dubz man of the hour Stephen Jackson. Since his return, The W's have gone 4-1 on the road and just about everyone in the Bay Area is stoked about his contributions.

A big congrats to Mickael Pietrus for recently becoming a father too! And for putting up some decent numbers on the boards! It's been a good week for the Warriors, which has given me some added inspiration in illustrating these 2 pieces I recently drew.

The new drawings were inspired by the past 2 wins on the road the W's had in Washington and Philly. Usually during a game I try and put together a drawing and have it ready (or at least almost completed) by the end of a game. With these 2 games coming down as nail biters, it took a little longer simply because a lot of my attention was on the TV screen. I wanted to draw these 2 guys because they were comin' off 2 really good game (if not the whole road series, minus the Boston game and before Pietrus kept bricking last night). Check out a few examples and brief descriptions on how I finished these pieces after the jump.

How to draw... "It's a Great Time Out!" with Tony.psd

If you don't know... now you know! I'm an Adobe Illustrator Junkie and yes, it's all done with the Pen Tool.

Where to begin and what can I say... I was in the mood to draw our wonderful friends at the Oracle Arena that make Warrior games an extra bit more entertaining. "It's a great time out!" at our Roaracle Arena and it's only right that I show some love back at the GTO entertainment crew- Franco Finn, (the Warriors Hype Man), Alexis from the Warrior Girls, and our man Thunder! Plus we got Baron in the cuts! Each game, these individuals bring an extra bit of excitement into each intermission whether it's a game show contest, a dance routine or just getting the crowd pumped. I took a time out from drawing our squad and decided to throw down a great time out of my own and make a sign for these wonderful people (check me out Wednesday!) that make every night at the Arena... A GREAT TIME OUT!"

From Left to right: Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike... ooooppps that's New Edition!
We got Franco Finn, Thunder, Alexis and Boom Dizzle in the house!

Drawing the GTOe crew took a lot of thought for me. I had never drawn a Warrior Girl before and wanted to make sure I did it right. I actually found myself struggling to render Franco's microphone too. Thunder was actually the most interesting one to draw. I kept referring to the Preview mode (Apple + Y for Mac Users or Ctrl + Y for PC as seen up top) to make sure some of the lines overlapped. I wanted to make the outline strokes came off clean and consistent, especially on Alexis. I've always thought drawing women was good practice in getting your outlines and curves looking smooth when using the pen tool. Male figures are usually more bulky and blocky, but when you draw a female the curves are somewhat round from top to bottom. Shade tones were also an issue because I didn't want to give off too much shadow. Overall, the concept was well worth a sign design. Check me out on Wednesday vs. Detroit with the "It's a Great Timeout!" sign.

It's a Blockbusta' Night starring GSW!

Straight outta' Tony.psd's selection of favorite flicks!

I love movies. All kinds too- action, martial arts, B-rated, zombie movies, killer animal movies, mobster, hip-hop action, hoops, you name it. Pretty much every time I contribute something to GSoM a movie's playing. Ideas come out and thoughts of "What would our fellow Dubz players look like in this movie...?" would take place... As I delve into more Photoshop related projects, I wanted to have fun (as always!) and get our players in some of my favorite movies. We've seen so many parodies already for 300, Ninja Turtles, and Rambo (which are all fun!) now lets see a couple of odd ball selections from Tony.psd himself featuring GSW. Let's not get too critical, this project was all in the aspect of getting heads to giggle out loud a little.

4 GSW movie posters plus a little Kanye West bonus after the jump. Enjoy!
