"WE BOOO!"

600_we_booo_copy_medium

Sorry this is a little late. I posted this on my T.psd Facebook page a few days ago as some light hearted comedy to Warriors fans. My wife and I were at the game when all the Boo's started pouring in on Joe Lacob this past Monday. Like many, I'm not the biggest fan of the teams ownership, I wish it didn't happen during Chris Mullin's jersey retirement night. Than again, I'm sure no one knew it was coming! With all the negative attention we're receiving nationally, we're pretty much famous for "WE BOOOO" regardless if it came from a small number of fans.

Hit that "Jump" button for a quick run down of the Warriors downward spiral from "We Believe" to "We Suck" and our current situation!

Thanks Chris Mullin!

Fb_gsom_mullin_medium

Tonight, March, 19th 2012 - The Golden State Warriors honor Hall of Famer Chris Mullin with a ceremony retiring his Jersey #17 tonight at the Oracle Arena as the Warriors take on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Chris Mullin spent 13 years as a Golden State Warrior and will become the sixth player in team history to have his jersey number retired.

Here's a little illustration I did to honor Chris Mullin, thanking him for an incredible career in a Warriors uniform. Don't forget it's bobble head night at the Arena, get there early and grab your free Chris Mullin bobble head!

Thanks for the memories Monta Ellis!

450_thanks_monta_medium

Monta Ellis, thanks for the memories here in Golden State. You've been a big part of my design career... I remember when Atma asked me to join GSoM, one of my first projects for the site was an illustration of No. 8 himself. I've been doing vector illustrations of you since 2007 along with many other team mates and it's been an absolute pleasure.

Thank you for your positive feed back (thumbs up and smiles during home game shoot arounds) and even taking a few of them! Your efforts have greatly been appreciated. Here's a collection of vector drawings I've done of Monta exclusively for Golden State of Mind throughout the years. Enjoy! -Tony.psd

Golden State of Mind Community Logo/Brand Brainstorm - Take 2!

This is a forward thinking left coast hoops community, but to be honest we've been a little behind the times with this site's current branding. As you know the Golden State Warriors logo and color-way are no longer the navy blue, orange, and yellow theme this site uses. We will be updating both the color-way to match the new lighter blue and brighter yellow and of course the... LOGO. The unveiling will either be the 1st day of 2012 or the first GSoM Night this season.

For the nearly 6 years of Golden State of Mind's existence there has been only one logo with two tweaks, so this isn't something trivial.

We're looking for something that we can all rally around that makes us feel unstoppable even when our favorite hoops squad is surrendering yet another career night to a recent D-League call-up, former draft bust, or 12th man.

Jump for the brand brainstorm!

GSoM Logo sample designs by Tony.psd

450_front_gsom_new_logo_medium

These samples are long over due and it's time to share it with our readers. For months we've gone back and fourth sharing ideas on branding Golden State of Mind as it's own identity and not using elements our favorite basketball team and many others are using. We've considered abandoning the use of the Bay Bridge, the California state as a silhouette and basketball players for GSoM's logo because it's already been done many times over. At the same time, if it looks good on the website, I want to make sure it transfers well into other marketing material like single color shirts or posters.

Join me after the jump as I present each logo in full view!

Operation: All-Star - Monta Ellis

Me_operation_all-star_medium

My favorite part was drawing the hoodie! I actually ordered one at the team store!

Monta Ellis has the numbers, skills and talent to become an NBA All-Star (25.8 PPG, 3.4 RPG and 5.7 APG to be exact). The last time the Warriors had an All-Star was back in 97' and that was Latrell Sprewell. I know that making it to the playoffs would be more satisfying for the entire team, but seeing Monta's name mentioned as an official All-Star would be the gratitude he deserves for being an electrifying player.

From now until the All-Star game, I'll be doing my part illustrating "Monta propoganda" signs and bringing them to games. The man deserves it!

FYI, the inspiration behind "Operation: All-Star" was taken from M.F. Doom's classic debut album "Operation Dooms Day" Enjoy!

Golden State Warriors Art: Curry and Ellis

Runmontacurry650_medium

Happy New Year everyone! I was listening to Run DMC's "King of Rock" album a few days ago and their cover art had me wanting to do a playful parody of our team. I miss doing those fun concepts with our Warriors team. It's something that reminded me of when I first started drawing for GSoM. All my ideas were fun and comedic at times. With much of my attention focusing back to GSoM for 2011, you'll definitely be seeing more of that this year. As for this parody, it's kind of early for me to start drawing a "Run" Curry, Ellis and Lee drawing since they've all had their share of injuries. The chemistry just isn't 100% yet. This right here is a teaser... (minus David Lee)

Golden State Warriors Art: Jeremy Lin

Jeremy_lin_gsom_medium

My goal this season is to draw our entire Golden State roster. I've received a handful of e-mails, tweets, direct messages, and even 1 MySpace message from the GSoM community on who to draw next. Jeremy Lin was the 4th guy on my list, so here goes. Enjoy!
