Golden State Of Mind Scouting Reports On New Warriors Dominic McGuire, Ish Smith, and Brandon Rush
Believe it or not, four years ago I posted a Summer League scouting report on new Warriors player Dominic McGuire. The good news? It's still pretty much the same scouting report I'd give today. The bad news? It's pretty much the same scouting report I'd give today.
Randomly, I also studied a lot of Ish Smith's game, both during the college season and while he was competing with Jeremy Lin for a training camp invite at the Portsmouth Invitational two years ago. And last year, as the Miami Heat embarked on their journey, an early season loss to a solid Indiana Pacers team had me eyeing Brandon Rush a little more than usual.
Putting Golden State Warriors 2011 NBA Draft Pick Klay Thompson's Impact In Perspective
The Golden State Warriors press conference introducing Klay Thompson and their other rookies.
It's pretty much indisputable that most NBA stars have been found in the NBA lottery since its inception in 1985, as laid out well by Andrew McKillop of SportsDelve.com.
However, it also turns out that the opposite is also indisputable: there is absolutely no guarantee that a lottery pick will turn into a star.
As such, we should probably temper expectations for both Warriors 2011 NBA Draft selection Klay Thompson and his impact on any forthcoming moves by the Warriors.

Golden State Warriors Draft Grades from around The Web
For your convenience, I've compiled a list of grades from various internet draft sites. Three of the sites (Walter-Football, Swish-Scout, and CBS Sports) didn't assign actual grades, so I came up with a subjective grade based on my own interpretation of their comments. Overall, it seems like a mixed reaction from the graders, as you might expect. I tend to agree with the naysayers, but hope I am proved wrong. When you're happier with the second round picks, that's not usually a good sign.

2011 NBA Draft Results Poll: Grade The Golden State Warriors' Selections Of Charles Jenkins, Klay Thompson And Jeremy Tyler
The Golden State Warriors selected Washington State guard Klay Thompson with the 11th pick in the first round, 6-foot-2 Hofstra guard Charles Jenkins with their second round pick, and made a trade for center Jeremy Tyler who has an interesting story about his path to the NBA.
Check out the links below for more information on each player, but more importantly: vote.
2011 NBA Draft Results: What Klay Thompson Offers The Golden State Warriors
The buzz in the Pacific Northwest about Washington State guard Klay Thompson early in the 2010-11 NCAA basketball season was not about him merely being a really good spot-up shooter.
As he continued to get better reading defenses and working off screens, he became even more effective scoring without the ball, which DraftExpress Director of Scouting Joseph Treutlein suggested in a pre-draft evaluation will make his transition to the NBA even easier.
DraftExpress: Finding a Niche For: Klay Thompson
With many volume shooters entering the NBA, there is a large change in role in terms of how often the ball is in their hands or what types of shots they're getting, but if he lands in a good situation, Thompson's only adjustment will be the number of shots he takes, not the type. Any up-tempo team would be a good fit, though he could excel just as easily in a half court-oriented team with a lot of screening and ball movement.
Yet even more impressive was everything else that he was doing beyond scoring.
