Golden State Warriors Center Kwame Brown Expected To Miss Three Months
Video of Kwame Brown's injury via CSN Bay Area.
Just as the Golden State Warriors are expected to get Andris Biedrins back with Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic in town tonight, they've been hit with more injury news: center Kwame Brown is expected to miss at least three months, which could amount to the remainder of the lockout-shortened 2011-12 NBA season.
Oakland Tribune reporter Marcus Thompson II has the details.
Latest Update on Stephen Curry
According to Marc Spears twitter:
SpearsNBAYahoo GState GM Riley says in statement @StephenCurry30 has no structural damage to sprained RT ankle & can play when he passes functionality test 1/10/12 4:53 PM
I guess we have to hope Brian McCormick is wrong. Otherwise, it's curtains on our franchise. (Sorry, but that's how I feel right now.)
Sacramento Kings Fire Paul Westphal. Keith Smart Takes Over for Now, Anyway.
KBergCBS The Kings have sent out a new release that they have fired coach Paul Westphal. 1/5/12 2:29 PM
KBergCBS Assistant coach Keith Smart will coach the team tonight against the Bucks. 1/5/12 2:30 PM
No doubt this was precipitated by the DeMarcus Cousins tantrum. Sacramento made a choice. They chose Cousins.
Breaking Down The Golden State Warriors' Most Brutal Stretch In The 2011-12 NBA Schedule
Obviously every NBA team is going to face some scheduling adversity this season.
To help us sort out just how brutal the schedule is to some teams, Tom Ziller has polled the SB Nation NBA network to get people's takes on the most brutal stretch of their team's lockout-compressed schedule.
Overall, when you compare the Golden State Warriors' most brutal stretch(es) in the schedule to the hand that other teams have been dealt, it's not that bad.
Newest Golden State Warriors: Kwame Brown, Dominic McGuire, and Brandon Rush
I woke up to the following tweet from @feltbot this morning:
feltbot @thecity2 Can you put up something on Brandon Rush's defensive prowess? I found this thread to get you started: http://t.co/2QMPDHVq 12/18/11 5:10 AM
It made more sense when a few minutes later I found out we apparently traded Lou Amundson for the aforementioned Indiana Pacers player. In this article, I'll run through a few stats on these newest acquisitions, who figure to get fairly substantial minutes this season. I did not include Ish Smith because he played so few minutes last season, and my guess is that he won't see the floor that much this season. Make sure to read my Advanced Statistical Primer, if you need to refresh yourself on some of the terminology.

Is This The New (Old) Andris Biedrins? With the Warriors Likely Striking Out in Free Agency, All Eyes Turn to Andris for a Glimmer of Hope
Nene, Tyson Chandler, DeAndre Jordan... Our hopes at upgrading the center position through free agency are drying up before our eyes. The latest reports have the Warriors scraping their pennies together to sign DeAndre Jordan to an offer sheet that will likely be matched by the Clippers, unless of course we completely overpay for him. We aren't the only ones hearing all the rumors involving the future of the center position on this team. Andris Biedrins has been hearing them too. It seems like the harsh reality is starting to set in among Warriors fans, and for the 25 year old Latvian alike, that the team's best chance to improve at the center spot might come from Andris himself. The proof will have to show up on the court, but for the time being a confident, honest, and surprisingly upbeat Andris Biedrins is certainly a good start.
At some point it makes you a little bit stronger, that they start looking for somebody else, and you say "No, no way." I can prove to them that I'm better than those guys they are looking for. Now is my chance. Last two years were horrible for me, and I know that. Everybody knows that.
It's going to take a lot more than good training camp sound bites for Warriors fans to get behind Andris though. His on court production has fallen off a cliff the last two seasons, and his play has been hard to watch at times. Maybe more so for those of us who defended Andris and his $9 mil per year contract from '07 to '09. I still want to see him succeed, but I'm not holding my breath, and Warriors management shouldn't be either. Jump for more video, and check out Marcus Thompson's article on Andris for the CC Times.
Golden State of Mind NBA Rumor Central
Nate had a great idea to have one ongoing post for keeping track of all these rumors. So, keep checking back here throughout the days ahead (we'll try to figure out how to "sticky" this) for rumors, actual things that happen (omg!), and tons of great discussion. I'll try to post as often as possible, but remember, I do actually have a day job! So you guys should feel free to use the comments to post whatever you're hearing.

Commissioner,
It would be a travesty to allow the Lakers to acquire Chris Paul in the apparent trade being discussed.
This trade should go to a vote of the 29 owners of the Hornets.
Over the next three seasons this deal would save the Lakers approximately $20 million in salaries and approximately $21 million in luxury taxes. That $21 million goes to non-taxpaying teams and to fund revenue sharing.
I cannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player in the trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear that they would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade for Dwight Howard. (They would also get a large trade exception that would help them improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).
I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen.
I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

Golden State Warriors Coach Mark Jackson On KNBR: Reviving Andris Biedrins, Ekpe Udoh's Coachability
Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson talked with The Razor and Mr. T on KNBR yesterday about free agency and the upcoming season and Sports Radio Interviews has a brief overview of the main points covered in the interview that was just over 20 minutes long (if you haven't listened to it already).
Most of the interview was pretty much similar to what we've already heard or might expect. And with the Warriors looking to be "very aggressive" in free agency to add depth and size in the frontcourt, he shared his thoughts on two frontcourt players currently on the roster: Andris Biedrins and Ekpe Udoh.
